Hey everybody! I have not been on the forum for quite a while and I realized, that there are a lot of very exciting new models on the market from various brands. I was wondering what you think the most exciting new models, fixed blades and folders, from lets say 2010 are?

Cheers!

I'll put in a plug for the Spyderco Para-Military 2. Very good medium sized folder. Nice ergos, good lock, open back construction. The CPM-S90V and CTS-20CP steel sprint run versions held an edge real well.

Oh, and the M-390 Mule Team knife is a nice little deal.

I like the style and form of the Back Bite from Tops Knives very reasonably priced, Rick Hinderer Xm-18 folder, a bit pricey though and for a seemingly good bush blade the Becker Companion, a good thick blade and seems to be a very good size for the task.

A couple of new Spyderco's are out there. A Perrin PPT, and a Vallotton Subhilt are both really nice knives and both use S30V blade steel. The Lion Steel SR-1 seems to be showing up in great quanity now, and there is an aluminum version that runs about 1/2 the price of the titanium version. Also the Ultimate Equipment M1911 folder is a very nice and well made folder that should stand up to a lot, is now being made with thicker blade steel and also using S35VN. I mention these four as they are all recent acquisitions of mine.

A new fixed blade design from the Ontario Ranger lineup is the Falcon. This is a smaller knife with a 3 7/8" X 1/4" blade of 5160 carbon steel. Also called the mini Afghan as it has the same shape as the Ranger Afghan, just shrunk in size. And yes, I also have this one on the way and hope to see it later today.

There are plenty more out there, but these are the ones I have first hand knowledge of.

You want to konw about the newest and best from last year?

nono, sorry, that's not what I meant...I recently had an "oh-I-was-watingin-for-that-blade-without-knowing-it" moment when I discovered the SOG NW Ranger without serrations that came out not too long ago...I thought maybe other had this moment as well with other knives. that's what I wanted to say.

Oh and thank you very much for pointing out that Spyderco Vallotton! I'll get one of those :)
