What do you think of Facebook as a venue for knife discussion?

Don't know if I would like it or not as I'm not signed up but I already have too many things online to keep track of-and that's just the stuff for fun. A couple years ago I was covinced by others I needed a "my space" account-what a time vacum!-lol

I use fb but not for knife chat, too many non-knife people on there and I just don't need some of my friends asking wtf every 2nd post I make about knives.

I like to keep different parts of my life/interests separate to avoid conflict.

I'll definitely check out Blind Horse - thanks for the suggestions.

Dan

I got a large amount of "knife" friends on Facebook.
There isn't a whole lot of discussion, per se
There is a lot of "up to date" news
Knifemakers showing their new knife
People going to Blade
Some spam for knife sellers

You don't have to POST
You can just READ the knife "news"
I think it is a good venue for knife related news

As far as marketing==>
Can't g wrong with plugging your wares on FB
It's free advertising:thumbup:

The thing I like about FB is the personal feel
I know that Moon Wilson is an artist now
Ken Onion bought his wife a Jag for their anniversary
Ken C is a hockey fan
Tom Mayo is a hard core conservative
One Stop Knife shop gives away knives :D
Mercop sleeps in a hammock
Brian Jones is a l33t drummer
Rock Cowles has a hot daughter
Mike Carter makes big a$$ bowies
Alan Newberry makes Altoids knives
:D:cool:;)

Give it a try
I was a FB skeptic at 1st..............

So do you think you can't read that things here if Dan would like to share?

Point made...very interesting.

Dan
Yeah after I posted that
I realized it was in a specific knife maker page
Thought it was in "community" for some reason
I also realized that some of the people may not want that info "public" on BF
My bad..I apologize for any breach of privacy to all:o

Facebook also helps with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

I found your FB page Dan:thumbup:
Now all you have to do is create a "Daniel Koster Knives" PAGE
Add a DISCUSSION "tab"..see what happens
Then you can put a link on this page
http://www.kosterknives.com/links.htm

Better yet, add a "follow me on Facebook" icon at the bottom of your home page
http://www.kosterknives.com/home.htm
Try it
See if you get any traffic to the page
It can't hurt..and it's FREE advertising (and SEO)

I'll give it shot, Trent Rock.

Jury is still out for me....Facebook seems at times to be more like a giant pool of TMI (Too Much Info)...

LOL

Dan

I have never signed up for facebook and in view of their current security problems won't.

They have many ongoing cases where hackers are stealing/ and gleaning personal info, then locking people out of there own accounts and representing themselves as the account holder in some crises to all the personal contacts of the account holder. Wouldn't be so bad if it was a rare occurence but it is common on that site.

Yes I have a facebook account.

No I don't use it for anything.

"SEO" is not magic. It would take a complete site overhaul (in most cases) to properly utilize what facebook has to offer.

Facebook integration is most useful when you have a constant stream of new content coming into your site. It's almost pointless otherwise.

Apparently it's deeper than that. The 23year old owner of FB is in court because for some reason members security settings were changed by employees of FB to allow anybody to contact them which is how FB makes money from it's advertisers and probably helps enable hackers to do their thing.
