what do you think of this HT oven

Nice little kiln. First I need to get a bandsaw but then need to work towards an oven. I really want an Evenheat.

if you get it and decide you dont like it you can just ship it to me and ill pay for shipping. HEHEHEHEHE!!!!!!

It works like the old paragons, with a dial to control heat and a pyrometer to measure it..No taking a nap during heat treating, you have to monitor it a little...But at 1/2 the price of a paragon it would be great for part-timers.. They also have a 24" 230v unit for $495..Think about this.. For less than $1000 you could have a knife shop with a 2/72 belt grinder(coote-grizzly) and a heat treat oven..this is the backbone of quality knife making..

I just dropped all my $$$ on my KMG, belts and some other goodies. Have to rebuild for another spending spree!!!!!

Louis,

Let me know what you find out about it. I'm looking at the viability of doing my own HT also. I do 0-1, so that makes it a little messier having to do the oil thing, but still....

Cool...what kind of oil do you plan to use? Also, how are you planning to heat the oil? Just curious.

I have the large version of this kiln. I ordered it from Sugar Creek with a digital controler, and it works fantastic. I was going to buy the Evenheat, but when I found this unit, which is less expensive, I though what the heck, I'll give it a try. It took about a half hour to figure out how to progrm the darn thing but once it is stored, it's a piece of cake. It holds a very accurate temp with the digital controler. It takes about 1 hour to get to 1880 deg. F, and it only draws about 10 amps.

Nick, I think that I will order the 24" 220v oven with digital controls.. The price seems great at $ 697.00 ...

There was a thread about this kiln just the other day here. I have the 24" with dig controls. Good kiln and alot like the Even Heat but cheaper. Not as good as a Paragon but less than half the cost.

i've had one going on 3 years and i've never had any problem outta it,i have the 24 inch version at that price you cant beat em
