What do you think of this tomahawk?

It looks similiar to one I have from H and B Forge. I can't speak to the quality of the one you are looking at, but I do like the design and shape. I throw mine pretty regular, it is very well balanced and has held up well. I liked dealing with the folks at H and B too.

I am sure there is some liability or financial reason the way modern axes/hatchets are manufactured, which is a shame, as you will come to love how easy it is to replace the handle on one of these hawks with the way the head is tapered. Something that you can do if the field too.

I got mine from Track of the Wolf a few years ago. It has the same handle, same rough, hand-forged head, same head shape, same soft steel.

I took mine to a knife making class, and tempered the head to make it harder. Now, it resides in my hunting pack. I paid $25ish for it.

If I broke it or lost it, I'd re-buy it. I cleaned up the flat faces of it, somewhat, by drawfiling some of the crusty, scaley surface off.

Yes, buy it. But don't buy the smallest one you can find. I think bigger tomahawks are better tomahawks.

what's track of the wolf? Actually i'm not sure I want to order the hawk from teaching drum, cause I'm not sure I want to give them business.

He's got a big selection, I'll have to look at it more later. I was thinking somewhere is the price range of $15-20. Is there any advantage to it being hand forged? I'm not really going to use it just to throw, i'll use it to chop, scrape, cut and whatever, probably wont throw it very much.

i owned the exact one your looking at and it is great nice steel really holds and edge, and chops superbly for such a small ax i got the small version. these things can be sharpened so good that a deer can be skinned with them, i actually skinned a deer using it and it worked REALLY good!
