looks like the man knows what hes doing. Is it more his technique or is it the axe head that's making the wood split?
 
Thanks for posting this video again (it was previously posted in the 'Wood Splitting with the Twist" thread). Tom Clark definitely knew what he was doing. I would say it's more in his technique; the sideways flick of the axe upon contact with the wood (or the "twist") that pries the wood apart. But the shape of the axe face plays a role big as well.
 
I cracked up when I saw this video. I grew up about 30 miles away from Potosi. I haven't run across one of his axes though.
