What do you think, real or not?

I would think if it was a Buck, it'd have a Buck stamp some place and it doesn't.
They look nice though. I'm guessing NO but that's just another of my W.A.G.'s

I would too, but I do know that Buck has made (I think they still do) exclusives for other vendors without the Buck name on them. Here's a picture of one of them and it was verified by either CJ or Joe that it was made by Buck.
They are made for Bass Pro Shops RedHead line.

My guess is that they are samples. Maybe it was recomended that we put NAHC on the spot that is normally occupied with the Buck stamp?
I sent an email to our specials department to see if they can shed any light on the subject.

Your not entirely correct Dave, they are 110's. Look at an early 1960's Buck catalog and you will see that the "Skinner" used to be a 110.
I'm so smart..........:foot::D

Dave Meier may not have that 110?? :)

Plum, Buck could have made those NAHC knives but I would guess not. I got caught up with those guys in the Life Member program. Bullshit operation really and all their stuff they sale is cheapo China merchandise. Avoid them like the plague. Of course that's just an opinion and the next guy may tell you something different.

Yes ,they are scum, they tried to hook me good, but it didn't work..Not all they sell is junk,They got my memebership and called asking me about gear surveys and what items off their listy i would most likely use for hunting, well i told her what i'd use as she named them off,and lo and behold 3 weeks later all this gear showed up on my doorstep, and a nice big bill for it all too.I still have all the gear invcluding a kodi-pak of knives.as soon as they send the postage i'll gladly send it all back.lol.Nice knives those skinners,i say they are samples as well.

Haebbie, what is the blade shape and grind difference you mentioned? I'm having trouble seeing that.

Well, Dave, may be that I'm wrong but I see differences to the original at
the pommel, at the guard and at the top (blind?) edge on of the blade.
Also the hollow ground looks different and it seems that the blade
is thinner.

Best,
Haebbie

sides dav, eye wuz jist kiddn anywho! ;)

Well we reached a dead end on those Skinners. Its weird that they are not stamped. Its lot likely that we would have made just a couple without a stamp, in order to make samples. It IS somewhat likely that we ground the Buck stamp off in order to make samples like those.
I would have to see them in person, and even then, it might not give us any answers.

Thanks for trying Joe. I have the one marked Buck on the tang now and when the one in question gets here, I'll take some closeup comparison pictures. Could be there's some indication on the other side of the tang. I'll just have to wait and see.

yea i want to know on them """"110's""" also
heck yea i know a bunch of of ya's like me
enough to kid wit me and poke some 'cuse i is tiggleish!
hee hee if ya did not why i would be on the ignore list..

I don't hink that they are real 103. There are some differences at the shape and the grinding.

Best,
Haebbie

I have to hand it to you Haebbie, you nailed it. I got the phony one today and alongside the real one, the differences are subtle but obvious. There's no sun today due to a big rain storm, but I'll put them side by side tomorrow for some comparison pictures if it's sunny.

The blade shape itself is very close, but the grind as Haebbie noticed is different. The hollow ground part is narrower on the phony and the handle is also shaped different. It's also a little longer in length due to the handle being just a tad longer.

I guess you can't say it's a counterfeit because no where in the listing or on the knife does it say Buck, 103 or anything regarding it's manufacturer.

OK, here's some comparison photos.

Thank you, Dave and Dave!

It was not difficult to see when you compare step by step.

Best,
Haebbie

The young man who I picked up the 103 for is coming by today to get it. I think I'll give him the phony one first just to see if he notices the difference.:D

Should be interesting.

1 had a knife that was marked 694t with no other markings on it at all. No buck or USA and I was told to contact Joe houser so I did. Turns out the knife was made by buck if I was you I would contact him and get the opinion of an expert.
