What do you think will happen to B-11 value now that the smaller b10 is worth more?

I mean purely from a performance vs weight ratio the b-11 is arguably the best chopper Busse has ever produced yet I have seen GW's sell for more.

It smokes the rest of the mistress line excluding the NMFBM, and its cheaper than all I mentioned.:)

Especially, since there are no more large res-c choppers, that we know of, in the basic line-up.

B-10s?B-11s?B-52s? I am so confused!!!

I used to work for a guy whose motto at times was "anytime there is confusion there's money to be made"

B-14 ? what did I miss ;)

Interesting question. Depends on the supply and demand of either knife along with the availability of substitutes. My guess is that the value of both B11 and B10 will go up over time.

The B10 is a very good knife with a choiless option and a slightly more comfortable handle but it is no B11.

The B11 is still a better chopper and not by a small margin IMO.

The B11 has much better balance for a chopper. For working with thumb or hands on the blade, I much prefer the rounded spine of the B11 over the B10 flat spine with sharp edges.

I guess the B10 release will probably reduce the demand for the B11 because some might settle for the B10, but the B10 release has made me appreciate my B11 even more because it made it more clear to me how hard it will be for anything to replace the B11 for performance/weight, reach and comfort. The B11 remains my all-time favorite Busse and Bussekin.

Funny... Seems that those who want or don't have one seem to think that the B10 will bring down the price on the B11.
Those that have a B11...know better! :cool::thumbup:

:D

But in all seriousness...
Since the B10's have shipped, I've seen a bunch already listed here and elsewhere. How many B11's have gone up for sale since the B10's shipped? I think that I've seen 3...from the same HOG, who I believe most surely still has at least one left to use. That's about it. :) To me, it shows that most folks who have them aren't willing...at least yet...to part with theirs whether they have a B10 or not. :)

I'm not sure I'd put the b11 ahead of the b10 in performance vs weight ratio if it's a stock comparison. The b10 is much thinner at the edge and main grind, and not that much shorter. Being lighter and with a thinner grind can allow you to sink deeper into wood with less effort producing greater efficiency. I'm not saying it's a better chopper, just that the phrase 'performance vs weight ratio' implies efficiency/performance rather than just performance. The b10 is a more efficient design, and it at least brings the comparison closer in line with each other with less of a gap.

IMO the basic 11 will continue to be at a higher resale value, in the range of equivelant full tang mistresses. I'm not sure it will ever garner the 1,000$ price tags of some of the l.e. models in the full tang line, but it will remain significantly higher than it's original value. I don't think the b10's higher price will effect it directly, other market forces will keep it's price high.

There is only one thing to do. Make a BBM.......... Basic Battle Mistress with the RES-C handles or a NMBBM with the RES-C handles. I am sure they would be a hit........................ like everything else Busse makes :) I know.......... another shameless attempt to get something I can't afford. I sure would love to own a FBM or a NMFBM shuck's, a Basic 11 also, who am I kidding. I would sure try with the new payment plan's they offer on some of the new releases. :)

The B10 release I passed over just makes me value my B11's that much more!
This thread needs pics...:p even if they are just the crappy middle of the night, indoor, bad flash shots like I so often provide. :o

The B11 "pair & a spare" shot. ;)

The his & hers "OMGTSHTF and we gotta hoof it" set. :foot:

The B8 is one I won't pass on though whenever it finally gets offered, especially if it is offered without a choil.
The "something's missing" shot.

nice pics.even though the 11 and 10 are close in size they are totally differant in my opinion.

How could the b-11 be more affordable?

Lets see sticker in price guide is $297 + show tax and priority shipping is around $330. Its been since blade 2010 and the subsequent ganza since they were released. Blade 2012 will soon be here.... So thats almost 2 years and they are still close to cost whereas the b10 just came out and it was 327 or 337 + 15 shipping and its being listed at 425 and even 495 elsewhere which is substantially higher.

So, it seems that in time the basic 11 will have to go for that or more. Now, not to argue but saying the b10 is a better knife IMO is purely personal and that really cant be proven, but I think that saying the b-11 is a better chopper is a provable fact!

and we all know how much us HOGS like our choppers :D
