What do you think about people who post threads and start them with "I know this does not belong here, but...

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Hey Rick,

Pour ya a glass of Maker's Mark, fire up a Cubano, and stretch back in that easy chair

.

Being bothered by folks that don't know what to post where just isn't worth it.

I think I'll join you in that glass of Bourbon

I think the only thing that bothers me more is someone saying in the for sale post what a great deal your getting OR when your bidding on an auction and someone wants to tell the rest of the world to go and see what your bidding on.

Mark, I'm not talking about people who don't know where to post.

I'm talking about people who knowingly post in the wrong forum.

Nick, I like that one too; what a great deal.

I have been on both ends of that auction thing.

I think it's alright for the seller.

A strong sense of decency and wanting what is right to happen seem to me to be important values for the vast majority of forumites whose posts I've read in my 6 weeks here. (10+ hours per day -- I know I know -- I did. This is my life now.)It is only natural for such people to be concerned when others exhibit a clear lack of such values.

Sure newbies are going to make mistakes. But I don't think deliberate flaunting breaks of the rules need to be just winked at. I recentl noticed, in the individual sales forum, a post to sell several knives by a forumite who's been a member well over a year and had at least a couple hundred posts, trying to set up an auction, rather than listing prices. I think they need to be embarrassed for their ways, otherwise the problems will just escalate.

My $.02.
