What do you use it for?

Cobalt,

Is the BAS about the same weight and feel as the Gangaola?

A comparison there might help Sing evaluate, since he played with the Gangaola...

Best,

Brian.

Brian, since I don't have a Gangaola, I can't compare them, but, comparing it to the 15 A.K. is as good as I can do. It feels nearly half as heavy as the A.K. and it's about the same length and width. The blade is thinner throughout and makes this knife really fast handling, plus it has good looks to boot. This is the one I would recommend to someone with a smaller frame who still wants something that is easy to wield around. Maybe Bill or one of the other guys can compare the BAS with the Gang. I know Phil has a BAS and he loves it. I really like mine, even though it's light.

Gang and BAS are just about the same, blade and performance. Handle and scabbard are different on the gang.

No Brian, I'm leaning towards the bigger ones myself. Although the BAS and Gang and some of the 12 inchers will be going to smaller family members like mom, wife, daughter(when she is old enough).

I love the 20" Sirupati, the 18th Cent., and the 15" Sirupati for non-chopping general purpose, but the 12" Sirupati is something special. The 15" is like a 38 snub - what you take when you don't think it'll be needed. The 12" is my "mouse" khukuri, like my 25 Beretta, always there even when you know you won't need it. Like the old saying, a 25 is nice to have when you don't have a gun. And it's pretty rather than Ramboesque. I still lay it next to my Spec plus Fighter with the 8" blade ( a BIG knife ) and think the 12" Sirupati CAN'T be as big and twice as thick. Order the big Khukuris, just don't forget a little 12" Sirupati for a pet.

I was actually thinking of the 12 inch Sirupati as my steak knife. Wouldn't it go over well if I poped this one out at someones house during dinner to cut my steak.

When they ask why I brought this knife, I'd say, "because tough meat requires a tough knife".
