What do you use Scotch-Brite for? What color/grit do you use?

I'm a little confused as to the use of Scotch-Brite - what does it do that sandpaper/steel wool/buffing can't do?

I use all three to finish my blades. I use them because it's fast and gives me a nice clean finish. Plus I like the lines on there.

For me, it smooths and evens out the surface in sort of the same way that hand sanding does, but much faster for a relatively quick, durable, pretty finish on a working blade. It's got a little cush to it, a little give.

I use to use scotch brite belts a lot until one got contaminated with something and would leave unwanted scratches on the blade.

I recomend if you do use them keep them in a box when not in use and blow them out with air before and after using them.

But once they get contaminated they are evil

When you say you use all three do you mean three different color/grits scotch-brite? Or Scorch-Brite in conjunction with steel wool and buffing?

Sorry, I meant all three scotch brights. But the brown one is the best. It smooths out a lot of stuff. I've been through one brown and barely used the other two.

Cool. I've been wanting to try one out. I'll have to track down a brown one. Are the brown ones more aggressive/lower grit than the others?

Yes, they go course, fine and super fine. Brown blue and grey respectively. For your application with axe heads, I think you'll be quite pleased by the results. They are like $24 on flea bay and just slightly lower from an abrasives distributor.
