What do you use to sharpen your ESEE knives?

I like to use a rod guided jig using 3M lapping film. Much like an edge pro but more heavy duty

i use an Edge Pro and it gives my RC3 such a sharp edge, i can see myself in the reflection and push cut paracord.

i've read people use sand paper with mouse pads... for those of you who do, what grits do you recommend???

to start convexing i use 220. depending on how dull the knife is i'll start at one of these: 400, 600, 800, and polish with these: 1000, 2000.
some day i'll get the ksf setup. the sharpening vids are great on the website.

My first Izula was reprofiled using my slightly modified Sharpmaker. I had originally intended to put a convex edge on it, but never got around to it.

I'll probably use a mousepad and sandpaper and convex my second Izula, but I haven't really had it out of the sheath much since I got it.

I have a crappy knife with very soft steel that I practised on when I was learning on a Norton stone.

I didn't get anywhere until I angled the stone. I did this buy resting it on an axe head. Just angle the stone to what ever angle you want, then hold the knife horizontal and away you go. Of course there is a trick to it but its fairly easy to pick up.

Dylside described it well, however I recommend finishing on the finest stone you have, then stropping, with or without compound.

And strop after every use when you can, or just at the end of the day. This will keep the knife shaving sharp, you wont loose metal off the blade and it will help to reduce edge corrosion.

Just my 2 cents :p
