What Do You Use Your Kephart For?

I'm finding mine is all I need in a fixed blade

Wow. Nice. Is it 1/8" thickness?

Also, here is a slight update on the one I am making. It is slow going. Just not taking much time for knifemaking lately. I am changing the shape slightly at the front of the handle.

I've been 'Kephart-curious' for a long time, and I think I'm finally ready to pull the plug on one. I'm looking at one of Lon Humphrey's nice renditions of the pattern, just trying to decide on the which wood to go with. Anyone use their Kephart for game?

Whenever I want to search bladeforums, I use this custom google search:

Searching "kephart game," I found this:

So maybe a kephart is more knife than you need. However, I am under the impression that Mr. Kephart used his for game.

Thanks - I did a few searches but didn't turn up that thread. I tend to prefer drop-points for most of my game knives, but Lon's Kephart seems like it might have enough sweep to the edge to work fine. His version is a 4" blade, which wouldn't be too big for my needs - I would mostly be using it for larger animals such as bear and elk, and pairing it with a smaller drop point for more detailed game work. Guess I'm just going to have to get one and find out...:D

Lon's is a nice rendition of a Kephart. Wonder what the blade thickness might be? Seems plenty workable for big game.

Arrived today, in dark curly maple. Now that I have it in hand, and have played around with it a bit, I think it will work just fine for larger game tasks, plus lots of other things. A very nicely proportioned knife and Lon's workmanship is seriously impressive.
