Obviously, we all carry a knife every day (besides school). But from what I've seen, some people carry a lot more knives then I would expect an average person to need in the course of a day. What do you use your knife(s) for in a typical day? My knives don't get very harsh treatment. Opening packages, cutting food on occasion.

I use it for sharpening pencils, at home of course(i dont own a pencil sharpener), opening packages, clambshells, wrappers and such, and trimming thread and loose stings.

Depends on the day, on an average slow day, maybe cutting open a blister package or a packet of something. On a day when Im doing some DIYing it gets heavy use from cutting leather, rope, plastic, splitting wood and everything that needs cutting. When Im bumming around in the woods, It never leaves my hand from cutting walking sticks, pack straps, splitting kindling etc. I don't know about you guys but I can never enjoy the woods properly without a good blade in my hand.

definitely cutting loose strings (they bug the crap out of me)

cutting whatever needs to be cut. zip ties, paper, doublestick tape,....

other than cutting open packages containing more knives(), i use it for food preparation, other packages and strings.but its really to much random stuff to count.

deanimating sentry's on covert missions.
Nope usually everything you said.

Plus one memorable night when someone borrowed it and I caught them using it to break X pills in half.

I usually have a fixed knife or two, and a folder on me.

Today I have my Gossman PSK necker, which is always with me but doesn't get used.

Then I have a SAK Farmer I wear on a belt lanyard with gets used as a screwdriver, or the small blade if I just need to cut something light like wrappers or boxes or the like.

I also have a larger fixed blade, usually, today I had a Koster Bushcrafter which I used to cut some garden clothe to length. I use fixed blades for cutting which might be dirty and I don't want to get dirt into the SAK, or for heavier cutting chores like cutting hose or trimming down fruit trees.

Have had my large classic damascus Sebenza clipped in my pocket and not used it so far today. That is typical usage for me. I thought I might need to use it this morning when I was working in the backyard, but no! :)

cutting my fingernails or cleaning under them. Picking food from my teeth. Licking peanut butter from the blade. Making sure the steak is done right. Making sure it's still sharp ever 30 minutes or so. You know, the usuall stuff.

i want my knives to be a defense weapons to defend myself against wild animals...i also use my mossberg persuader pump shot gun when im in the forest and against crazy dogs in the town....but usually i use knives to cut rope, paper, cardboard boxes,to prepare food,to cutting walking sticks, and i use my knives eachtime i can ...Making sure it's still sharp ever 30 minutes too  i would like to use my knife more and more

Those dang loose strings are a real annoyance, especially when the tools available to me are such a pleasure to use. There's always the odd wrapper or package, and I break down cardboard boxes fairly regularly too. And knifesturbating when things get slow, of course....

i use my knife for opening and cutting boxes on daily basis during the week, then opening packages, and just random things. Seems like i manage to pull it out at least once a day for something
