What does Chris carry?

A change in steel would be nice, but I don't see that happening. I always wonder what makers carry.

Dozier carries a small fixed blade of his and a Sebenza. Pretty cool:thumbup:

M390 please:)

Unlikely, sounds like Chris is pretty tight with Crucible and I doubt he'll use a non-US steel (M390 is from Bohler?). I may be wrong but I wouldn't hold my breath. I meant to ask him about CPM154 but the conversation got sidetracked onto something else.

I did remember to ask about an Insingo blade in the 25 and the answer was non-committal. He suggested that there may rather be another blade shape coming?

Interesting info on blade shapes for the 25. thanks for sharing. CPM 154 would be sort of a side grade wouldn't it? Of course it will all depend on HT so it might be a moot point anyway. I say s90v at 60 HRC and I would be ok with that:)

As he was last night. Plain jane large Sebenza. I got the very distinct feeling that he carries whatever is being tested or slightly tweaked so he gets a feel for how it works in real life. I'd be surprised if the Sebenza he was carrying wasn't at least slightly modified. In addition he had a 25 proto (1/25) with him.

Once again Martinus, thanks for the heads up.

It was great meeting you and being able to talk knives and trends! I was surprised at the amount of people that showed up, ended up being small and intimate.

Ok Marthinus, spill the beans; we're all ears and respectfully request full disclosure.:D

Ha ha, I dont think that would be my place to mention what was said...

Talked steel huh? I wonder what that means??? Is a blade steel change in the works? M390 please:) That would solve the one issue that most have with CRK. Even if they bump the price a tiny bit to compensate for the extra cost, it would be worth it.

No talk of M390....and IMO thank goodness. Chris did mention he wants corrosion resistance and toughness within his knives and it sounded like he is liking the Nitrogen and Niobium added in steels. As we know, picking a steel for a knife design you want certain properties. These include: strength, toughness, edge retention (wear resistance), edge stability, corrosion resistance and price. Pick three (or two), you cant have them all (cant remember the correct expression).

Cost to manufacture, warranty work etc all start playing a role within these decisions for a maker making higher volumes IMO.

What I can say is that the idea wont be on the plain jane Sebenzas but those with damascus. The key will be in the damascus :)

As for CPM-154, I wanted to ask that for Chris as well. I like CPM-154, but think the added Nitrogen and Niobium is what he likes that should give simpler carbide formation and better corrosion and toughness from my understanding.

what current steels have a higher nitrogen niobium content that you think he'd likely use? or was the damascus talk your hint. I wonder if he'd work specially with devin thomas or someone to create a fun little damascus for the new 25.

last i saw he was carrying around the carbon fiber seb. I wonder years down the road which he'll look back on and think "this was the one i was happiest with"

The Damascus will be something completely different and will really impress I believe.

Well I believe the added Nitrogen and Niobium in S35VN is the reason why he chose that above CPM-154, but that is only my speculation.

Also would like to thank Stan Gordon and members of Sharp Edge Sharp Shooter that made this possible.

I'm glad i held off on ordering a plain jane 25 then. Gotta start saving those pennies.

Thanks for the picture too, that shop looks amazing

A Damascus blade on the new 25 is going to look bad-ass....can't wait!

So, what I am getting from this Damascus talk is that something may be in the works to make a cool damascus that is a bit more geared towards using instead of collecting? That would be cool.
