What do you think about this down-n-dirty lil' Bug-Out-Bag knife?

3.5 ounces with the sheath

Full size handle (4.75" long)

*legal* length blade = 3"

"As Quenched" finish

Scandi Grind at 12.5 degrees per side

Handles optional :D

I'll have these at the Blade Show for perusal.

Dan

How much would you pay for this knife??!?!?

Have to come to the Show to find out. :p

;)

Dan

Looking good Dan, nice little knife to chuck in a BOB or even slip it into a nook in the car for that one time you need a knife.

Best of luck at Blade.

As a member of the test pool, I can only do 2 things - first, thank Dan for letting me try one out and listening to my feedback. Second, I can attest that it's handy and has a decent heat treat.
In addition to my review here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=743166
I also used it last weekend as a marking & trim knife while building a deck.

OTOH, I'm curious to know how much pants and scales are going to run as options.

Thanks for the comments and chuckles, guys. :D

I'm now in Atlanta awaiting the Blade Show tomorrow. I'll reveal the price tomorrow after I put them out on my table.

Specs:

3/32" thick 1095, scandi grind (and I have some with a flat grind too)
kydex sheath made to fit

Don't forget these are HandMade. ;)

By me. :D

Not some machine tinkering away in the back of the shop somewhere.

There is no need for a coating, and better off without it since a coating scratches off during use anyway.

These come "pre-tarnished" (won't rust unless left in a jar) and "pre-scratched" (nature of making a scandi grind and I left 'em down-n-dirty to keep 'em square in the user category.

The blades are cut out by hand
The grinds are put on by hand
The heat-treat is done right here in my shop
The finishing (what little there is :D) is performed here
The sheaths are made here, and custom-fit to the individual knife

What you are looking at is a $150 knife....MINUS handle scales....MINUS finishing...with the simplest of sheaths.

PURE FUNCTION

(and nothing else) ;)

Heck, you could always put a handle on yourself if you wanted.

Or just leave it AS-IS...

Toss it in the glovebox of your truck or trunk of your car...in your Backpack, Rucksack, or Day Bag...in a Survival Kit....First Aid Kit....Bug-out-Bag...Ammo Bag....Range Bag...Fanny Pack....

Fits just about anywhere.

If you can't tell already...I'm pretty excited about these. :D

Dan

I think this design, Dan, would be also a GREAT little carver when some scales were put on (simply for comfort). I like this design, and would love to see one with some scales.

TF

Absolutely...

This is just the PSK version...;)

Right. In those situations it wouldn't rust. But worn around the neck in the summer I'd much rather have a coated blade (or stainless).

Plus if I'm going to throw a knife in my backpack or daybag then length is not an issue I'd go for a full size knife.

I like the design though.

A paracord wrap will make these sweet for a BOB or even a Sue:D.

I bet these will be very reasonable

Let's run a pool nearest to the actual price gets a free one (gee thanks Dan)

I say $45

I said 50 because it's smaller than the Bushcraft model and the bare blanks for those were 60 in carbon. according to this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5300816#post5300816

Yes, the blank is heat-treated.

Standard pricing is $60 in O1, $80 in 3V - and that's fully finished.

If you just want one to glue-up yourself = $50 (O1)

Shoot me an email/PM when ready.

Thanks!

Dan

Absolutely...shoot me an email, facablade.

Hollowdweller nailed the price. ;)

I do plan on making a version with scales later on. ;)

I picked up one of these at the show today. I'm really happy with it so far. I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet, but so far I am really happy with it.

Thanks Deoje. I never get to go to any of the big knife shows and I thought maybe it might have been less at the show.
