CH, I was wondering when you'd read this and come to post. Nice job. The seperate 112 micarta looks like mine. Real smooth slabs only a 2 line. Mike Kerrins also has one. Does anyone have an early finger groove version their proud to show?DM

Scott has them all, saving that picture SH........when you see the model descriptions and it talks about the 'slight' differences in scale rivet size, this is the difference you see. 300

Thanks guys for the pictures and knowledge.Very educational.300 I noticed your 3dot is missing the nail knick whereas Scott's has it. So, theres a mid year change caught on tape. DM

Like Pack Rat said, there's some pics in the Picture Thread, but here they are again, coloration differs slightly, but unique grain is characteristic in all:

Hi Scott,

In both side view photo's it looks like the thrid 112 has a brass rocker pin? I'm sure it's just the lighting. However, can you comment?

JB, My 3dot has the nail knick as well. 300 I've noticed on mine from the 2dot on up have the larger pins you called attention to. So, darn you've got two noteworthy knives, which express a change at the Buck factory. DM

Good eye JB. I too would like to know if this is true. DM

JB & DM, you guys are correct..that knife was re-bladed in 1987, with the 4 dot blade-stamped over with a 1987 tang stamp. They must have been using up old brass rocker rivets & re-stamped blades in the repair shop :)

Thanks for all the coool pics! Re-blades, repaired, employe 'specials', customs...There are a lot of rare,odd,1 of a kind 112's out there! One I like is the '4' pin 112....One bucket of scales re-drilled so as not to waste them.

Scott, Very few of those I'm sure. I wonder if they did the > stamp after the blade was heat treated. That is hard!! Well they could have heated it up to soften then hit it. Very, interesting.. All of my 110s and 112s have the large stainless rocker rivet. Except for one 1967, 110 3rd ver. 3rd varia.. Good job guys. Thanks. You guys are making it hard on me not posting pictures. DM

Thanks to everyone for the photos and replies. This helped me confirm that my childhood 112 is definitely a 1973 4th Version with ebony scales.
