I've never seen one but I suppose we could make a thread. Or make it this thread. I don't know hardly any slang related knife talk, but technical terms, sure.

Ok I'm still learning so from these pictures a whittler has 3 blades a clip, a sheepfoot, & a spey. This is also true of a stockman. So is the only difference the size ? Or do i have the blades wrong ?

So in these pictures no size limits are mentioned could someone tell me the approximate sizes please ?

Whittler has the small blades down the same end, not the stockman. A whittler often has different blade styles, stockman rarely. In a whittler the main blade fills the full width of the frame, tapping into 100% of the spring, the smaller blades each get half the spring. Which is to say, the whittler has a partial centre liner, between the minor blades. The stockman has a full length centre liner.

Here is a decent description of the various metals used for making blades. I refer to it all the time while shopping.

That pic is far from exhaustive, and not terribly accurate.

If you would like some accurate info, including sizes, of slipjoints, go to the WR Case site and download their core product guide.

If you really want to know about slipjoints, buy Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values, 3rd ed or earlier. There are hundreds upon hundreds of slipjoint patterns.
