What does this icon mean?

I've seen this icon on the back of several Spyderco knives:

What does it mean?

It's the logo of Sal Glesser, founder of spyderco and designer/maker of that specific knife.
You can see the S A and L in the logo..

If you see one that looks like an E and G combined, that's the logo of Eric Glesser, Sal's son.

What about the W on the Manix.

If you roll that W rightside up, it becomes a sylized EG, Eric Glesser's mark.
