That's not a bad idea. I "require" the wife to carry a flashlight and a small SAK on her keychain, but something she could toss in her purse and leave would be good too.

"Require" in this case means "I snuck the items onto her keychain and she hasn't removed them yet."
 
Besides the knife, she always has an "engagement" ring (my mom gave it to her a month after we eloped when I told her), a white gold wedding band, and a Rolex Lady Datejust.
 
My girlfriend was never really into knives but one day I traded my rock lobster for a manix 2 sprint and as a filler the guy threw in a spyderco spin. She saw it and demanded that I let her carry it. I had been trying to give her a knife for a long time so I was stoked to give it to her! So she carrys a spin. :P
 
I bought my girlfriend a Purple FFG Delica. She loves it and carries it in her purse. Even saw it in her pocket a few times! It's come in very handy for her.

Makes me happy!
 
my gf normally doesnt like to carry a knife around but if she has her purse she has my kabar in it . . . . still cant find where she hides it lol
 
Two out of my four serious girlfriends have carried green tanto minigrips. I'm not sure what the appeal of that very specific model is, but two in a row right there. And oddly, they both chose a small assisted/automatic knife as a secondary, the first being a Scallion, which is still in active use, and the second being a Benchmite, which was stolen.

My last two refused to carry.

Oh, and the first one has a Miss Army knife. We actually convinced NGK to carry them years ago just so she could get one.
 
This one. Just the perfect size for peeling fruit during lunch.

It's ironic, I'm the knifenut, but my wife is the one with the big knife.
 
She carries a CRKT Van Hoy or a paraframe. I've tried getting her into "higher end" knives, but she likes what she likes.
 
My wife was never interested in knives, but I talked her into a TDI to compliment her pepper spray. Now she never leaves home without it. The other day she went shopping with her mother and used it to cut the tag off something she had bought. The look on her mother's face was priceless. :eek:

Edit: Can't get my wife to carry anything more threatening than a butter knife. Her excuse: "You have enough knives for both of us!" UHGGGG
