What DON'T you like about your Sebenza?

Well the thumbstud seems to be a general disliking about the Sebenza. Buzzbait mentions that the edge of the BG42 rolls easily. I find the same thing with my S30V version.

I remember reading of this before. Does anyone else have that problem with their Sebbies? (whether its BG42 or S30V)

"What DON'T you like about your Sebenza?"

Nothing at all including the thumb stud! :p

Closest to perfection user on the planet i know of and to heck with the scratches, after the first few scratches who cares when it "Cuts like a Dream and it's built like a Tank". LOL hehe

1. I do not like the clip design or the clip placement.

2. Beadblasting technique is behind the times. Other makers have improved on this.

I don't "dislike" the blade shape, but I would prefer an alternative to the present design.

BTW, they do have one of the finest customer service approaches.
I know a custom maker or two that are just as good or better tho.

I got to handle one in the Sebenza passaround, it was a great knife, hope I win it in the raffle tommorow:D  , but I did have one gripe about the thubstud. Everytime I stuck my hand in my pocket for anything, the stud scratched my hand going in, and coming out.

Other than that, sweet knife:) .

It's gets really friggin' rough when there's no lube in the pivot. At least with some of the nylon bushings/washers, they're still somewhat slick. That's what I don't like about mine right now.:grumpy:

Uh-oh. SarcoBlaster, did you take your Sebenza apart? If it's rough after putting it back together, you may have a misaligned washer. It shouldn't be rough, but I know it can be sluggish. Snapping the blade out and finding it slow to a stop halfway is not unusual, but that's not roughness, since it still should move smoothly.

You're correct. It's sluggish, not rough. Wrong choice of words on my part.

The stud. It needs to be just a tiny bit larger, "knurled", and certainly not shaped like a little "cone" - my thumb slips off too easily.

I'm definitely a Sebenzaholic, have six and just love 'em. The thumbstud works fine for me, don't care if the ti handles scratch. There's one thing I'd change if I could, though, and that's clip placement. I'd prefer tip-down carry. A tip-down Sebenza would be just about perfection.

I dont like the tip up carry as I have mine IWB and a few times it has opened up slightly and given me a little "love nip: when I wnet to draw it or just tuck my shirt back in.

I would also prefer a spydie hole but then the blade would have to be a very different shape to make it work

Point44 - I think you will find that a lot of people use their Sebenza's pretty hard that is one of the reasons to but one IMHO.

I cut a couple of holes in a plater board wall before Christimas with no worry at all about it failing/breaking. The stone wahs finish is great at hiding scratches, I was lookimg at mine last night and there are a couple parrell to the blade on one side but you have to look really hard to see them with the light in the right direction. I guess they are form the plasterboard but I have only just noticed them

Like Bagman, I'd prefer a Spydie hole but cannot deny that the thumstuds work well for me.

In fact I don't really have any dislikes about the Sebenza at all, and have become more appreciative of it in time.

I would however, like to see a drop in price, as there's a lot of choice out there for anyone willing to shell out $300+.

And, like others I'd love to see some variety. Different blade shapes and the option of G10/Micarta/Carbon Fibre inlays would give me more excuses to buy another.
