I just discovered RAT within the past 2 months, I am still a big Spyderco fan, I own more spydies than anything else. BUT..... I am finding myself visiting this forum and looking at RAT knives at various online retailers more than I would admit to or really should be. For me, the knives scream to be used. I have some other brands that have never been used- still factory sharp in a drawer. But with RAT it is different, I want to go out and use the knife. I feel like going out and backpacking soon just cause my rc5 will be here by the weekend. Does anyone else get this? Or am I the only weirdo?

i am the same way. having such a great warranty also makes me want to use it more. i love my benchmade and spydercos, but i am afraid that im going to mess them up. its pretty hard to mess up a RAT.

i found them on ebay when looking at a knife to replace my beker bk7, burned it up pretty badly in a house fire, had already fried the sheath in a vehicle fire. found the rats and looked them up on the blade forum, once i started reading and saw the company support, well i had a couple in a couple weeks, 2 rc6's, had to buy 2 because my daughter confiscated the first one.

anyway the support of the company and the involvment on the forum sold me. and is just a real fun bunch.

take it easy

The fact that it does what it's supposed to do, but leaves lots of room for user creativity is nice. When I first picked up an RC-3 I was immediately impressed by the great ergonomics, full flat grind, carbon steel, micarta, and the fact that the sheath was as good as the knife!

Seriously...so many companies just give sheaths no thought--they'll design a crazy awesome knife and then put it in a crappy sheath. They might just as well not include it so you don't have to pay for the sheath you'll never use.

The fact that RATs are USA made and have such a great warranty is just a bonus. It's the great people behind the product that matter more. :)

A good product for a fair price plus people who care about their customers is almost always a formula for success.;)

Since you love Spydies you will probably look forward to the new Izula folder due out twards the end of this year. I know I am.

the quality, the looks, the feel, company ethics, the people, this forum.
and the no nonsense no b/s usability of the knives themselves.
its like THE package deal, and i hope they dont change anything their doing.
maybe other companies should take notice.!!!!

I like the design and shape of the blade. It just looks like a knife that should be used. Looks nice but not so nice that you would rather not use it.

best damn warranty in the biz, no-nonsense design and outstanding workmanship... never had a problem with any RC knife but if i did i know they'd have my back :D

the company the quality what RAT is about.their customer involvement.
& awsome knives

I like the design of the knives, the many mounting and sheath options, the quality and the philospohy behind it all.

Design, ruggedness, made in USA, and of course the no questions ask warranty.

The Izula first got my attention, it seems just about perfect for what it is.
Plus it's an inexpensive introduction to a quality company, I love that.

Not sure I can add anything more to what has already been said. A quality product, lifetime warranty and a knife that begs to be used and not be a safe/drawer queen. Jeff and Mike design knives that are easy to use and maintain. The key is "use".

The best thing I like is their attitude. Skip all the hype, design for the people that will really use their product and screw those that do not want it. A rare attitude in today's market. I do not hesitate to use any of the 5 RC knives that I own.

Dude have you seen the rat girls.......lol

Jeff would definitely approve this.

Same here. Once you get to know a bit about Jeff and interact with the RAT community, you really appreciate RAT knives. I wish more companies followed Jeff/Mike's business model.

The sheer minimalist utility of the Izula. No B.S. company philosophy and warranty, made in USA. That and the way they smell when new.

No nonsense design and materials, owner feedback, this forum and the best warranty in the business to boot.
It's like the Listerine slogan... " It says what it does, and does what it says" :)
