RAT Cutlery has a lot in common with Spyderco. I'm a big fan of Spyderco. Not only because I am a very "form follows function" type of person, but also because they are the real deal. They make quality stuff, have a great group of people behind it, and they interact with the end line users on multiple levels. The actually value what the customer has to say and learn from everyone. They have tons of original ideas and are constantly improving things. They give credit where it is due and have a no BS warranty.
I see the same stuff in RAT Cutlery. No bullshit, USA made, good guys (and girls), knives that function flawlessly and are not all prettied up for no reason. They listen to their customers among other things.
The beauty is in the function. You use the knife and then go "holy crap, this rocks!" They don't go overboard on stuff. The RC-4 and Izula that I have are perfect. They however just scream to be used. I use 'em.
Sal Glesser once said: "We've built a few collector pieces but most Spydercos are hungry and like to eat. As mentioned, open, close, cut, clean, oil, cut, cut, cut... To a Spyderco, that is living. All of the effort that we put into designing and building the knife is found in using the knife; The horsepower in the steel, the edge, the ergos, sophisticated mechanisms, carefully chosen materials or custom made materials, history of and refinements to the design, etc. Letting it die in the box is to lose 75% of what we put into it."
I love that, and I don't want to let any RAT knife I own "die in the box". No way.
Keep up the kick ass stuff RAT Cutlery! Many thanks for good knives and service!
