What ever happened to Frontier?

Ok I was cleaning out the tackle box the other day and had to resharpen my Frontier double eagle I got when I was 12.

What ever happened to them. They just die?
 
Wasn't that a Schrade brand? I have two knives with "Frontier" shields and both are Irish-made Imperials. Schrade closed their Irish Imperial factory some time ago, before they went bancrupt.

Interestingly (or not), one of my Frontier knives is pretty decent fit, while the other is a real POS. They both have plastic 'sawcut' handles.

Yah my double eagle is a 4 inch skinner with excellent fit and finnish. It lockes up still very well after all those years of scouting and hunting.

Funny thing is I still remember shelling out the 16$ at the feed and grain down the street like it was yerterday. Maybe it is just that when I was 12 30 years ago. 16$ was a huge investment for a kid. However the knife is still going strong. No tellin how many stakes whittled deer cleaned and trout cleaned by it.
