What Ever Happened to Steve Hoel?

Steve is a great friend of mine and i saw him at the last Art Knife Invitational last october in San Diego. i dont think he is making many knives in the past few years as his father passed away and Steve was very busy handling his fathers estate and was quite involved for a long time.

Steve is one of the finest men in knifemaking and i owe him and his lovely wife Nancy a great deal for having to got to spend a week in his shop learning folders with tapered pin pivots and in general how steve makes his folders.
in my humble opinion Steve makes the finest working and fit folders of anyone! there is no play anywhere and lockup is always perfectly tight. you cant budge one of his blades. over the years i have bought quite a few folders from him and each was flawless. i still am trying to make mine as good as his.
 
Motion Seconded. Steve is alive and well. Still here in Arizona. Recently had him clean up a small fixed blade he made about 15 years ago. Sorry, it already sold.
