What exactly is "iwb" carry?

I find IWB carry does a little too good a job of concealing most of my folders. They're wedged in there pretty tight and there's really not much knife sticking above the waistband to get a purchase on. Wouldn't be a problem with those fixed blades in the pix.

I'm also not a big fan of IWB carry, although I admit that I haven't experimented with it that much. It certainly seems like a good idea for fixed blades, but I don't know about folders.

If the folder's in your front pocket, it will lie flat on your leg when you sit down. Plus, it's easy to remove.

If you like to carry several knives though, it seems reasonable to put a few small ones in the waistband so your pockets aren't totally cluttered.

I love waistband carry. I can carry a five inch fixed blade comfortably down along my right thigh. It doesn't get in the way too much and it feels natural to draw from that position. The knife is well hidden there as well with even just a loose t-shirt hanging over (although it would be more conspicuous if you're all tucked in). I even prefer to clip my folders right there rather than in my pocket. I feel they are better hidden and just as easy to draw, once you get used to it. Besides, you can only fit maybe two folders in your pocket...and five or more IWB!

Mr. Sniperboy,

Have you checked out Bladerigger's static cord carry? You can carry your knife any way you damn please, without the need for clips OR a belt! Knife bothering you when you're driving? Pull it out and leave it on the seat. Or how about when you're going 'potty'? How many of us have accidentally dropped their knives inside the toilet because you have to take the knife out of it's sheath before going number two? I confess that it's happened at least twice to me.

With a static cord you can just stick it in your pocket. No more wet knives!

If you're thinking of IWB, then please consider a static cord. And be careful in the bathroom!

Richard -

Just got a Tek-Lok with my Wegner custom last week. Great piece. I like it with an angled mount for cross draw on the weak side hip rather than IWB, though.

The Tek-Lok has around 9 holes in it's mounting piece. It comes with a couple of Chicago screws. Put it up against your kydex sheath in the position you want, then put the screws through the holes that match up. Super versatile. I also like it because it is a hinged unit, rather than a solid loop, so it can be put on the belt and moved around while the belt is on. Once it's on, though, it's on!

Hey Brian....

As far as the TEK goes,, yaaa I've got one,,but it's just collecting dust right now.

I have some issues with it, that are Only related to inexperience with it,,mostly cost issues.

I does look like a pretty sturdy loop though.I'm sure that the makers who are using it really like it,,seems to work well.

With IWB carry though,,the only way it will work in on a pancake or two piece sheath since on a pouch style you fasten whatever clip down one side.

All my rigs are pouch,,so I can't use it for this purpose at least. It however could be used if it were fastened to a folded piece of Concealex using a pouch sheath...

Thanks..

Eric..

I'm from a different school, and I call this the "Ouch! Damn, I forgot that was in there before I bent over to tie my boot" carry. I'm just a novice, without experience, but I know what I hate, and that's the old kidney/rib/whereverelse prod...
