First, I apologize if this has been discussed before. I did not find a thread specifically about this.

In general, what would be the difference in quality, color, and appearance in these types of blades:

Plain
Mirror
Standard
Satin
Tactical
Bead blast
Stonewash

any of these better than each other?

Obviously, i'm a new collector. Had trouble finding anything on google that was helpful. thanks for the help!

These are all surface treatments of steel so it will not affect quality in any way however you might say it will affect potential to rush.

Mirror would be a polish that brings up a reflective surface, while satin, bead blast, stonewash are all descriptions of processes to achieve a specific appearance. Tactical is typically referred to as a coated blade, such as black.

thanks HandofGod! i realized google images helped with the appearance, plus with your info about the quality of the blade being equal, i'm good to go.

It may in theory affect cutting due to different friction one or other surface has, but it would be minor.
Surface treatment deals with grind marks blades have after grinding and different treatment cost different and this show if not quality but level of production.
Mirror polish is harder to make but best from rust resistance point of view and friction. Bead blast - worse, it just attract rust and not friction friendly. Try to
cut cheese with it and see.
