What exactly is Zytel?

How does Zytel compare to G-10?
Is the material on Glock pistols similar to either one?
What is the material on Gerber Covert? Is that zytel (they call it glass-filled something...)?

Zytel and other fibreglass reinforced nylons in cheap knives contain less than 20% fibreglass. There are plastics with higher glass content. In EDI Genesis 2 they use one of those tougher materials.

G-10 is fibreglass mat laminated together with epoxy - one could call it glass micarta

. Glass content is more than 50% - I can't remember how much. G-11 has even more glass.
 
Zytel is nylon resin. In knife industry is kown Zytel as nylon resin reinforced by fiberglass (20 - 35 %). In Glock pistols is using thermoplastic materials, it isn't resin.
