What features would you want in a neck knife?

Lynn,

I vote for the 5.5 dp configuration. But is the sheath multicarry? I think you're in the upper end of the custom neck knife market. Little differences here and there make all the difference in a decision.

Sing,
The knife will come with a neck sheath, that can be easily adapted, via optional attachments, to many different carry positions.
The small differences that usually bring people to my knives usually are the grindlines matching on both sides. The grinds being flat. The tops of the blades being rounded, instead of sharp. The handles being well contoured, instead of just flat. Those, and then overall balance and feel of my knives. I put a lot of extra work into making my knives quality. I could reduce the price significantly, if I were not concerned with the details of making a knife great, instead of mediocre.

Looks like the vote is currently at 3 for the 5.5" version, and 1 for the 5" version with guard.

I have gotten some e-mails, voting on which knife to offer as standard. Here is the tally so far. 1 for the 5" no guard, 3 for the 5" w/guard, 3 for the 5.5" model. I will take orders for any of those 3. I will only make one a standard offer model. If you would like place an order, e-mail me and say "I would like to place an order for _______" If you would like to place a vote for the standard model, please place it here.

thanks,

Lynn,

Sounds good to me and what I would expect from a handmade(custom)knife. Unfortunately, not what I always got.

Anyway, the 5.5" design is cool and made as you described would be true cool.

I'm checking out the 4.5" picture right now. Looks excellent to me, my only concern is in the finger-groove area. I'd think that transition to the "guard" is a bit too gradual, too shallow a curve. I'd prefer something my finger would lock into and really butt up against, a tighter radius. I'm assuming that the end of the handle rests in the palm and the pinky isn't much involved in the grip, which is fine.

All this talk about the shape, but there's afew other areas I'd care about. I'd want the knife to be capable of 24-7 carry (I realize I'm in a small minority on this, but folks really need to try it). That means lose the bead-blast as it won't stand up to the daily shower and possible accumulation of gunk and body oils. Mirror-polished would be the best bet. The sheath should be VERY secure so it can be worn safely while sleeping, and should feature drainage holes to make sure it doesn't trap water and other potential rusting substances.

I'd have no problem with using a chisel grind to knock the price down (I appreciate that you're up-front about that), but make double-ground an option and PLEASE grind it on the right (both meanings) side.

Just my thoughts, feel free to ignore (my girlfriend usually does

The one thing that seems to come up is finish. If you want a satin finish (belt finish) or handrubbed finish, you can have it. Just expect to pay for that option. If you would like to discuss finish options, e-mail or call me (918-322-5416). Here is the link again to those neck knife drawings.
