What flashlight do Usual Suspects use?

I carry an Arc LED flashlight everywhere I go. I also just recently aquired a Surefire M3 [which is awesome], but its a little large for an EDC. I plan on buying an E2e as soon as they are available as it will be more EDC friendly than the M3 and much brighter than the Arc.

Rosanghal,
Your old 9p is replaced by the new D3. Nearly identical. You could also opt for the C3 (combat style) in black or hard anodized. They use all the same bulbs and batteries as your old 9p.

Thanks for the info Commanderfan. I'm going to give those ones a looksie if I ever decide to get another SureFire.

Just wondering about those clips though? What do you think of them? I carry my 9P in a kydex holster, do you think if I took the clip off they would fit in the existing 9P holster or would you just use the clip?

Thanks again for the info

This is just a thought I had while looking at the E1 surefires and comparing them to my AA mini maglite. With the right tools (a small lathe) it looks to me like it would be pretty simple to cut off the barrel and tap in new threads to make a single AA mini maglite. This would make it less useful for a koppo stick/kubotan, but more pocketable for a small flashlight, and still use the cheaper and more available AA cells. I am not sure how this would impact the amount of light output and battery life for a single cell.

Of course, the price of modification is probably higher than just going out and buying an E1 anyway...

For duty:

An 8X for primary usage and a and a 6Z back-up in my duty bag. For extended use, there's a 3 C-cell mag light (strictly for lighting purposes).

For EDC:

A D2 with clip ( and the clip isn't as obtrusive as I thought it might be). An Arc light attached to my coat zipper and a 3 D-Cell mag light in the car.

*Mrs. Raye carries a 9P on duty as a back-up to a 3 C-cell flashlight. As a secondary, she has an older (6 yrs old) 6P in her duty bag.

I'm thinking of picking up a copuple of new Nitrolon models.

I use Streamlights (rechargables) at work. I now carry a Surefire E1 everywhere i go. Very small, pretty powerfull. Im very happy with it. I also have a photon 2 on my keys at all times.---Kevin

I believe Cutleryshoppe.com has them.

I always carry a ARC LE with Photon 3 covert in white and a Photon 2 in red in my front right pocket with my Navigator and micra. I also have an E2 in my jacket or briefcase usually with spare batteries and bulb in the Surefire spares carrier.

Hey, was See2 (Chris) standing behind you when you wrote that?!!!:p

Yes she does light up my life....someone pass me a tissue!

Surefire has been putting those clips on all their personal lights now for at least a year. They are handy on my E2 sometimes but I find I don't really use them that much. By the way, they are removable being held on with only one screw. You can take them off if you want.

I use a Surefire kydex hoster on my duty belt. It will hold the 6P/6Z/9 series. All of my 6/9 series are older and don't have a clip. I don't know if it will fit in the holster with the clip. I know who to ask though. May take a few days. I would probably take it off anyway.

Sorry Clayton, missed this question the first time around. I ordered a lanyard kit from Surefire and it came as the kit. One thing I did do is replace the paracord. The kit came with gray 55 cord and I replaced it with OD to match the light.

Botach has Streamlight scorpion on sale for $29 with batteries, if anybody is interested.

Yeah I figured I could take the clip off. I was just wondering if I could use my existing carrier with the newer generation Sure-Fires.

If you could ask I would appreciate the help thanks Commanderfan.

Inova X5 % LED light that runs off of 2 Lithium surefire batteries. its freaking bright and runs forever on 2 batteries unlike surefires where u need to take out a loan to keep them fed with heavy use

The older surefire 9N with turbo head was one of my favorites. I like the Millenium line for my weapons and the 6p line for my pocket.

The Tactical idiot like the Inova line??????????????????

Thanks to all of you... my SureFire Centurion-2, spare lamp, CS-1 container and 2 Photons III Covert are on the way to Poland! Now, that will be cool when they arrive :)))

Ross,
Surefire tells me that any of the new lights will work in all the Surefire V70 plastic holsters. So you should be OK (I'm assuming you are using the Surefire brand plastic holster-V70).

Does anybody remember Cold Steel put out a "tactical" flashlight a while back? It was shown destroying a watermelon (watermelon doesn't strike back). I guess it wasn't that popular, since I don't see it on their website any longer.

Well, shoot...On duty, I have a Streamlight Ultrastinger, and a Surefire 6R...

While cruising around, I usually have a Surefire E2, with beamshaper...and a 3D mag in the car...

Surefire replaced the 9P with the D3, which is a good light, also.

Some years ago, Cold Steel sold a solid brass rod that screwed onto the back of a mini-mag...This turned the little minimag into a decent impact weapon...

P.S. shameless plug for light website in my sig :)

I carry an INOVAX5 it's one of the brightest lights i've found, I am waiting for delivery of a surefire personal exec.
