What folder do you consider the “best-looking” folder?

Lots of modern tactical stuff being mentioned, but what about the traditionals??? Modern stuff is cool, but identical G10 and stainless is pretty boring.
For me, I like the looks of a Buck 110 or a nice slipjoint like a Case Amber bone Trapper with some patina.

For a moment there, I thought the knife was actually tinted blue because of the light reflecting off it. Have to say, a blue tinted version would be sweet looking (in my opinion).

There actually was a blue tinted version. I missed out on it. The scales were Blue/Gray CF and the blade was a gray coated. I think the model number was 0562BLGRY. You can still see pictures of it on BladeHQ but they are sadly discontinued.

The Opus is nice. And not as highly priced as some of the knives being mentioned.

I was trying to talk myself into it for a long time. I thought about how I would feel about putting any kind of use marks on the finish, and suddenly felt very comfortable with keeping my money.

Maybe if I can snag one over on the auction website for $160 or so? We'll see if Bes is on my side.

Best I've seen on eBay is $200. I like the Opus, but not that much... Costs more than any of the WE knives I've bought, and isn't my absolute favorite in terms of styling.

I certainly wouldn't refuse one, though.

The Boker Mermaid. I'll show myself out ....

darty

Although I'm not a fan of wood handles on a pocket knife, when I think of beauty, it is hard to beat a nicely patterned wood handled knife. It also seems to pair well on a traditional like CKs Lionsteel Otnat folder. I'm also not a fan of metal bolsters with wood scales. YMMV.

Actually, if you're interested, I just found an Opus for sale in our very own Bladeforums "for sale section" for $175. (not me, obviously...)

The one with the best geometry for the intended task.

You know (well maybe, maybe not ... :-/ ,
the one you pull out and use and return without much thought.
Then sometimes before fully returned you look at it to figure out why it performs so well,
and begin to truly appreciate its beauty.

Form Follows Function

If you don't buy 3 of those you could afford a hinderer.
That is absolutely true. But I would rather have the three. Some diversity helps prevent things from getting boring, and me from regretting one large lump purchase...

To be fair, the Hinderer is probably a distinctly better knife than a $200 offering, and holds its value better, but for a third of the price, I can get something that's 85% as good. Law of diminishing returns.

I can't really say what % it truly is, but I know that it's not three times as nice... Someone else will probably have a different opinion than I will.

But, for me, the Hinderer is for when I either receive a significant boost in my cashflow, or I decide I'm okay with spending all the extra cash for that extra quality.

There are quite a few Alan Davis knives I have seen that all made me gush.
Especially the different Damascus with mammoth scales versions. I do not own one but hope to some day.
