What folder(s) do you have in your pocket?....one-handed open....

Hi Todd -

There are a lot of choices in this space.

I have been carrying a ZT0560 almost exclusively since I got one in my hands. It is big and beefy, but contoured so that it rides in pocket unobtrusively.

Here is a shot of the ZT0551 (the first ZT/Hinderer collaboration) and my ZT0560 -

If you like Spyderco, and there is a lot to like there, then a Military is a nice option, and if you look for a "standard" model you can get one for right around $100. This model is a Knifeworks exclusive Ti/G10 version from a few years ago, but these were much more spendy -

A ZT0350 is a good choice as well - another beefy knife, but smaller and cheaper than the ZT0300 -

I will bring a few with me to the gathering for you to check out.

i forgot to mention the griptilian was the other one i had been looking at online. and the gun shop had a couple of those, as well. i didn't like the feel of it as much as some others. it almost seemed too light, if that makes any sense. just didn't like the feel of the handle. too bad because i really liked the fit of the handle and blade shape.

i liked the manix 2 i tried. i am just not used to the locking mechanism.

thanks Sean.

The lock is similar to the Axis on the Grip (but is mechanically different) and it does take a little while to get used to). You can pull it back and flick the blade open on the Manix but I typically don't do that. I also like the steel on the Manix better than the Grip I have.

I know what you mean on the feel of the BM, it is light in the hand but the design is comfortable in use and it's held up well (I've had it for a few years). Pretty much everything that's been posted are quality knives, a lot of the choice is personal preference and feel.

Wow. thanks guys for the feedback. I see many of the models that i was looking at, so i feel validated. And Andy...i really have been eyeing the ZT0560, so i would love to be able to handle that one, especially. it is a little pricey, but really not significantly more than some of the spidey's i have looked at. i have never tried a flipper, so am curious to check that out.

thanks all.

ha! so, apparently i decided to replace my endura 4 with an endura 4. I just happened to check "the bay" for some wood scales i was bidding on. i happened to scroll down and noticed i had won an Endura 4 FFG (gray handle) a few days ago. Whoops!

i only barely recall bidding on this knife. i hope i was not drunk-bidding. but, either way, i got a pretty good deal on it. :o

don'tcha hate it when that happens :)

p.s it's how I ended up with the rosewood burl on my Kep edc among other things, sometimes it works out :p

I bought a Large Sebenza with micarta inlays and a Large Insingo at the same time. They have been my main EDC's for the past 2 years and have really put my folding knife purchasing to a hold.

This combo is on me most every day. I do change up the traditional, but the mini grip is always clipped to my pocket.

After playing with the one I have in my pocket now, I think you made a wise choice. Even if it was accidental.:D

You should check out the delica 4 with the Emerson wave

I've never carried this one but I had another that I carried everyday. The wave is very handy. Now I carry a Swissbianco Alox bushcrafter but I'd love to have a large sebenza

I switch out slipjoints like crazy, but I usually have one of the following in my pocket.

Beaver Tail 73 single blade, Tidioute 15 Huckleberry Finn jack, Northfield 48 single blade dogleg trapper.

I've been carrying my Spyderco Starmate less and less in favor of the Great Easterns above, this is the one made last year. I also have a Spyderco Bob T slipit I sometimes carry.

I have one of the Manix 2 XL's and a sprint run Manix 2. If you can get a Manix2 with a flat grind, go for it. Great knife. Comfortable, great slicer.

Saw you got an Endura, great choice. I'm still half heartedly looking for a G10 Endura.

Glad you got it sorted out Todd!

I carry a BM 943 mostly and love it. Smooth action and strong axis lock.

Thanks for checking in Dan. How you doing anyway? You all healed up?

Better be careful.
Playing with Andy's 0560 set me back almost $300.:D

As for what I carry, it has been a Schrade 8OT for several months. When the new ZT0566 comes out, I will probably end up with one.

Nice knives guys:thumbup: Usually I'm carrying a CRK lrg micarta 21, Umnumzaan or Sebenza 25. When I had a job on went on a folder spree for a while:D I carry a bunch of Spyderco's also, love the Para2, Military, GB. Can't forget about the ZT's:thumbup: love my 561 and 350. I'm actually thinking of refining my collection a bit.

I talk shit about the spydie hole:rolleyes:,but I got to handle a Mili that was donated for Hanna & decided that if I ever buy another knife with a hole in it,it'll be a Mili.

If I can ever get up to visit you while I have this Endura, you really need to try it out. The thing is unreal.
