I am looking to get a new folder. My limit on pricing is $100. I would like a blade no bigger than 3". I would like any and all suggestions. Thanks!

1. What will you use it for? (camping, hunting, survival, self-defense, fishing, bushcraft, edc, collecting, safe-queen, ...)
2. If not for collecting, what type of environment will you will be using it in? (city, tropical, mountainous terrain, desert, salt water, etc.)
3. Do you want a locking or non-locking folder?
4. If you want a locking folder, what type of lock do you prefer?
5. What's the most important feature to you? (ergonomics, country of origin, steel type, grind type, handle material, lefty friendly, etc.)
6. Do you know what is or is not legal to own/carry in your area (or the area you will be using/carrying it)?
7. How long have you been using or collecting knives?
8. What other knives do you own/use (or owned/used)?
9. Optional: which color is your purse? Very important in order to suggest the best matching color knife.

You could check out the spyderco sage 1. Its a little over 100 bucks, but a great deal for what your paying. CF handles, s30v blade.

I will use it for EDC, and some outdoor use. I will be using it in a city, and sometimes in the forest when i go hiking and maybe camping. I want a locking folder. Type of lock doesn't matter to me, but it doesn't have to be super strong. I really don't have a most important feature, but maybe ergonomics and looks. I like beautiful knives. It is legal to carry a 3" folder in my area. I have been using knives for 4 years.

You forgot the part about your purse's color, but that's ok :p

Take a look at the Spyderco Delica, and the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian. There's a reason why you see those mentionned all over knife forums; they're awesome!

I just got a benchmade mini bone collector and am in love. such great quality construction and materials.

I would also recommend a Spyderco Delica 4. I prefer the full flat ground version over the standard model since it slices a bit better and its offered in some interesting colors which may come in handy if you use the knife in a city...a black knife may scare the sheeple. ;)

Spyderco Sage Carbon Fiber Plain Edge Knife, looks great and is a very nice EDC size. I have one and I love it, it is a main EDC rotation knife.

checkout the scout models made by great eastern. although we all like one handers the traditional models have beauty that no plastic can achive.--dennis

Another vote for the Delica 4 FFG (I have a grey one). The Para2 is awesome, but it's over 3in (I'm carrying one right now eh eh).
I also like a lot the SOG Visionary I, my favorite 3in folder (you can get it on ebay for less than 100USD).

Believe it or not, the Buck model 110 is a good EDC. Blade normally 420J, it retains a good edge and can be sharpened quickly and easily. Basic model about $40 with sheath, updated model of BG42 are also available as are exotic scales. But my EDC is based on steel and prefer 154cm and my EDC is a Snody Activator from Benchmade, its prettier than the Buck 110 (has custom made scales), and is already opened when pulled.

Another vote for the Benchmade minigriptillian. I was never really able to warm up to my spydie delica as much for some reason, that I cant really think of exactly right now. It might not be "beautiful" to most people's eyes but it comes in a variety of flavors and is less ugly then the Delica IMHO. I'm not sure if they have models under 100 but Mcusta makes the most beautiful modern knives out there IMHO. Kershaw has some nice models too.

If one hand opening isnt important to you GEC has some very nice looking locking folders, but youll have to sharpen them yourself because in my experience their factory edge is terrible.
