What folders do y'all carry?

I usually carry a LM Juice and sometimes a Spyderco Ambitious...along with either the BK14 and/or ESEE 3.

Last night, I was at a church music rehearsal with a new group of folks and the soundman asked if anyone in the group had a pocket knife. Of course, no one else answered so after a few moments, said yeah, I do, and casually offered up the Eskabar, doing my best to make it no big deal.

It was pretty amusing watching the groups expression as the micarta Eskabar got passed over to the technician. He thought it was cool.

The front lady singer made some kind of quick remark along the lines of, "well, we are in Texas"...kind of like, what else would you expect but folks to walk around with mini Bowies.

Times like that, would have been more appropriate to have a small folder or Juice to hand over...LOL

excellent story... wonder what they were really thinking?? or what they think of you now that they've experienced your inner biker mentality because you carry a fixed blade :)

wonder how the response/thoughts would have been had you handed over an SAK..??

Also looking forward to ZT0561 that was preordered.

I carry usually 3 knives. A single large folder, a multi tool, and the one on my keys. I switch it up a bit, but...

Keys is alwalys the victoronox midnight manager. No nonsense, I use everything on this knife.

Multi-tool is a leatherman either juice s2 or original wave. I've had my wave for... 11 years? It's been amazing. By far the longest and hardest used tool I've ever owned. Still rides on my belt to work

Folders is a toss up. I have about 3 Kershaw leeks, great assist knifes, but I tend to favor my larger folders, I have a kershaw bump, a full size benchmande griptilian, and a spyderco endura 4 in ZDP-189. Gotta tell ya, I am just about in love with the endura, but the griptilian is a close second. I've owned the endura longer. But that 189 is magical. It's the sharpest thing I own or have ever owned. I can cut single hairs with this thing. I rotate them, so, it's a toss up what one I have.

I do not own knifes that I do not use or carry. There are no 'safe queens' here ;-)

SAK Classic SD Alox on my keychain. (virtually unnoticeable because of its size and weight)

SAK Super Tinker sitting at the bottom of my pocket.

Larger locking folder (when at work). Rotate between: Ontario RAT-1, SOG Flash II, CRKT M21, Kershaw Leek. Got the Leek recently and have been carrying it more often for now to get a feel for it. Stopped carrying the Kershaw Blur because it was tearing up my pockets.

Smaller locking folder (when not at work). Rotate between: SOG Flash I, Kershaw Chive. Just got the Chive recently, but I'm liking it quite a bit.

Other miscellaneous folders (not actually carried)... Kabar Dozier folder in my work bag. Opinel No. 7 in my car (my food knife). Leatherman Core multi-tool in my car. Kershaw Half Ton at my home office desk (mainly for opening letters, packaging, etc.). Kershaw Needs Work in my camping pack.

These days I'm carrying a Sanrenmu 710, best 9 bucks I have ever spend. Don't have to worry about beating it up, prying, general abuse, losing it, get it stolen/confiscated. If I happen to break it I will take 9 dollars out of my wallet and buy another.

I sometimes carry the odd Sog or Spyderco but not much anymore.

Boker Hyper. It's flat, controllable, and discrete.
It replaced my 3" CRKT M16 EDC (modfied to be ACTUALLY 3") which now rides in my m/c jacket.
I have both sizes of Kershaw Junkyard Dog. The big'un is a frickin' dream, but too large for carry. The smaller one isn't in rotation, partly because the clip is a bit flashy, but it's an excellent knife. The ergos aren't nearly as good as the big one, tho. I need to replace the clips. There's usually a Victorinox Tinker in my bag, half forgotten.

wonder how the response/thoughts would have been had you handed over an SAK..??

You are probably right they were thinking inner biker mentality with the Eskabar

Had I handed over an SAK, they probably would have thought...."boy scout" lol

I carry a Kershaw leek and a variety of fixed blades. This week I have caried a different fixed blade each day!

I carry a Kershaw Cyclone, Mini-Cyclone, or Benchmade Mini-Grip. In my bag, I've got a couple of cheap CRKT M16's and a Benchmade 9050 AFO. I'm seriously considering a BK11 or BK14 to sub for the Benchmade 9050, since carrying a 9050 is pretty much illegal in WI.

I absolutly love my Benchmade 5000sbk and 5100sbk autos. The 5000 I've had since early 2002 and put it through a TON of hard use at ground zero doing cleanup for 4 years, and its still my EDC, although the black finish is nearly non existant now.

I usually carry some combination of these:

Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Spyderco Military S30V PE
Spyderco Dragonfly 2
Victorinox Pioneer

Since I am on a university campus most of the time, I carry a bevy of different traditional type slipjoint pocketknives. Stuff like Case, GEC, Queen, Buck or Moore Maker. It all tends to be US made, and my favorite is a GEC Tidioute single blade scout (pictured below). When I'm doing rough work, helping someone move, or working as a grip I carry a Spyderco, either a salsa or a para 2.
