What folders do you carry?

I seriously think I am one of the few people on this site who just simply can not stand ZTs. Nothing against them really just something about them screams heck no to me.

Same boat - for the price and style - it just does not do it for me.

Same here. I think for me it's the name. I've held one and it was really nice. But years or engineering experience tells me from engineering drawings, GD&T, and such, take two ZT knives and measure with precise measuring instruments, and you will find a difference in dimensions. That's what tolerance allowance its designed for. For me, there went the Zero part (it's theoretical). . That's why I like like truly custom stuff. Or even makers that admit that differences occur. After all, no matter what, one is not the same as the next one you may acquire. Just my input.

If I carry a folder, I use a Kershaw for opening boxes and then I still have my CR-Large Sebenza 21, for anything else if I go away from the house say 4-wheeling. BUT I must say my wife gave me a Buck Trapper #311 our 1st Christmas together 31 years ago. I still carry that knife everyday that I were regular work pants. What I'm saying there is some days I'll mow the yard in sweatpants so I don't carry it then.

The 940's are just perfect edc's imo. Do carry a victorinox Alox cadet too daily. I did add a ZT 562 and small sebenza insigno too. Also a awesome edc knife

Only folders I carry these days are just my wallet and a sog power pliers in my pockets but I also edc a Meaner HACK on my belt along with 'em. ;)

For awhile now, this lightning-strike CF customized ZT in my front pocket:

and always have a Black BM 943 sporting 154CM in the back pocket (that's a little more sheeple friendly ;)).

The name "Zero Tolerance" has nothing to do with parts tolerances my friend. ;) Nothing. And speaking to that point, ZT uses wire EDM, lasers, and multi-axis CNC machining to manufacture almost all of their knife parts. From my nearly 15 years of experience in the Aerospace industry, I'd be willing to bet that the individual parts coming off of the machines have very little variance (a couple thou at most) from one piece to another. Yes, there will be some tolerance stack-up when the knife is assembled, but the individual parts have almost no variance. How else could you take a bin full of parts and assemble a fully functional knife with random pieces? If each part wasn't extremely close in size to the others, each and every knife that is assembled would have to have unique work done to it during assembly. I can assure you, that is not happening in a production knife company. Are they custom knives? Of course not, and they don't pretend to be. But they're damned good production folders. As are others from Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, etc.

Hinderer xm-18 3.5 wharnie for the last couple of weeks. It's a great work knife.

At work a CS Voyager 3.5 in. blade..... Night on the town: Spyderco Chapparal (great blade!), or a Inox, skeleton folder my GF bRought back from Spain (small blade, just about 2 in.).

EDC (I'm a rebel here... Municipal bylaws prohibit this): Spyderco Manix translucent blue, Spyderco Delica, Spyderco police (retired, just too big .... Good for work though). Old, very old, G96 for yard work.

Not a regular here. Glad to see that, at least, the Swamp is not affected by all the current changes:thumbup: ( The Yard is down, Busse in mid change)

Missing in pic is the Voyager & G96:

I found Ferrum Forge early this year, and I've ALREADY accumulated three of their knives.

Elliot and Chris Williamson design and make the knives in a shop about 10 miles from where I work. I've been lucky enough to meet them both, pickup my knives, (with a full shop tour!) and spend quit a bit of time talking with them on several occasions. They're great guys!

The fit, action, and finish are superb, and I've only been carrying my Fortis, Mordax, or Ferko/Mako for the last 3 months. Elliot's design style "Just Does It" for me, and I know I'm gonna end up with more of his knives!
