what folders use carbon steel

Thanks everyone,

However I was looking for a more modern design using carbon steel, I already have the traditional carbon folders

Once again I am not really interested in d2 or m4

MooreMaker offers a one-hand opener with clip in 1095. I have never handled one. I only know they exist. They make several sizes. Here is a link to one of them.

Note: Case CV steel is a low alloy steel rather than a stainless or pure carbon steel. It is essentially 1085 with small additions (less than 1%) of Vanadium and Chromium to modify the grain structure and heat treat response, respectively.

Case Trapperlock In Chestnut bone with CV. blades is a real nice knife. The knife is a liner lock which some don't like, but I really like mine. Case CV. sharpens up real nice and holds a decent edge. The Trapperlock is traditional looking it also has a thumbstud and is a one hand opener. The blade has a bushing and opens really smooth.

If you look around you can still find the Cold Steel Trail guides in carbon v. The Trail guide comes in 2 different sizes I believe. It is a lockback with a pocket clip.

anyone know of some good dealers for Svord peasant knives in the states? PM if necessary. Probably pick up an Opinel or three for the holiday season, too. My dad's never been much of a knife carrier, but found one of my old cheapo, thrift store folders from my childhood and has been carrying that around and finding it useful. I think a small Opinel would be right down his alley...

I too was going to recommend finding some older Cold Steel knives. Also Shrade had many modern designs that used carbon before they went under and bought out. It's to bad Cold Steel left Carbon V behind. :(

i dont think they left it behind so much as they couldnt offer it. Camillus made alot of Coldsteels offerings, i think the folder in this thread being one of them. So when Camillus closed in 2007 their knives had to be made elsewhere.
Camillus made alot of knives for alot of big names in cutlery
Schrade went away in 2004, intellectual rights snapped up by Tayler, FWIW
they will be missed.
now where can i find those Svord knives stateside:D

any opinions on the smaller, non locking opinels?? the smaller ones would be the perfect size for my dad, who's not much of a knife guy. is there a decent amount of friction holding them open?

ah, thanks for the info on where to buy. But I found out ragweed's forge had them, had great success dealing there in the past so that's where I went! Also got a few stocking stuffer Opinels while I was there. :D
