What gloves do you wear???

I have a pair of XL size Mechanix brand. I don't think I have ever had a real nice pair of gloves, I don't wear em unless I just have to. Doesn't usually get much below about 20 here, but I'd probably use gloves if I found a good pair that actually fit me.

I do like the wool liner gloves though. I need to try and track down a pair of XL.

I wear Mechanix wear gloves also. I work in a warehuse that is heated but drafty and cool. My hands tend to dry out and crack. If I wear these my hands stay better and I can type ok in them. They are really comfortable and I like the way they look. I also wear them in the summer alot because I hate having dirty hands. I don't mind doing dirty work just don't like having hands that look dirty.

If it's so cold I need thick gloves I usually don't go out. I'm workin on that though.

Duray three finger wool gloves from Mark's Work Wearhouse. I've been buying them there for years. Duray used to (maybe still do?) supply the socks and gloves to the Canadian military, very well made, warm, and cheap (~$5 per pair).

The other glove thread made me remember something.

I usually wear leather roper gloves in the winter, or for general work. I recently lost my old pair, and I went and bought a new pair. Dang things are stiff and new. I miss my ol broke in pair. Any tricks for a speedy break in?

I wear the USGI wool liners, with the fingertips cut off, and the thumb left intact, over which, I wear nitrle/latex at work, then my ropers on the top layer.

Has worked well for me for years.

What gloves do you wear? Leather? Synthetic? Gortex? Wool? Fleece?

Thinking about an upgrade to my setup.

I'm making it a habit now to always use gloves when warranted. Just like eye protection, its important.

I've run the glove gambit. But ultamitely, the situation will dictate what gloves I wear. And they should always be in servicable condition, and retired when not.

i have some wool gloves that i got at k-mart. they have exposed fingers, but the back flips up and converts it to a mitten. it is difficult for me to find gloves as i have a big palm with really long bony fingers. so on the rare occasion i find and but buy of the XL gloves, the finger length is good, but there ends up being alot of wiggle room for my fingers and this causes my fingers to be not quite as nimble as i like them.

I have some really nice Columbia gloves that I was gifted last Christmas. They're sort of bulkier but the finger design makes them really quite dexterous. I can still do everything I need in them, and for fine tasks they have lanyards so I can pop them off without losing the darn things. :D

These are pretty good mid-weight/activity gloves from Eddie Bauer - fleece windstopper, rubber palmed, with mittens in zippered pockets. Nine bucks on sale:

Great thread and great timing!
I just walked home from a buddies house and while i was walking i started thinking " my hands are freezing (thin leather gloves only), i must search for a thread on winter gloves when i get home", lol!
I bought good wool socks and watch caps from bensbackwoods recently but didn't even think about getting gloves.
D'oh!
Its only -6 celsius here tonight, not really cold but i guess my hands are very cold sensitive.
Lots of good options posted here for me to check on!

I carry a couple types of glove in my bag. Leather work gloves and a pair of fingerless USGI wool liners.

Ive been looking for these.Im getting a couple of pair.

Ive had three pair, different makers over the years. Those three fingered gloves are warm with dexterity. I carried a pair when I was firefighting just for cleanup.

Heres a pair from Cabelas. Twenty years old. Goretex Thinsulate. Worn out , repaired. My favorite gloves ever. And a pair from walMart that I found a few years back.

I wear black flight gloves as long as it's not wet out. They are thin, but will keep you VERY warm. I also wear Mechanix Wear gloves when I'm doing anything outside around the house.

Those are nice myright. Nomex is good stuff. I dont like the wrist length though, It tends to make my watch dig into my arm. I have found wrist lenth ones though. I like them b/c you can feel a pulse through them, and they are warm, and dont impeed dexterity too much.

Mechanix gloves for working but theyre worthless wet. I have a nice set of snowboarding gloves Ive used for the nasty stuff tho.

I usually fold them over like most people. I agree that it gets in the way of the watch and I don't like having them cover my watch.

Where did you find wrist length ones?

When it gets really cold, I can't wear a watch. Even the small metal backing of the plastic g-shock starts feeling cold easily.

I have several pairs of gloves depending on what I am doing.

I have lots of work gloves for stacking and splitting wood, when being near a warm building is not an issue.

I have the UnderArmor liners for use as liners, or when it is too cold to expose bare skin, yet you need to a get a task done that you can't do with big gloves. When it is that cold, they are under my big gloves, and I can just slide them off, and they will stay attached by their little lanyard.

If I am just day bumming I like using the military wool liner/leather over combo, or I have a pair of ragwool fingerless gloves, with a foldover mitten.

If it gets really cold, or I am not going to be coming in for the night, I have a pair of Marmont Randonee's that are really nice.

Just got back from my local joke of a gun show. I cant believe it. This show is usually great. Not much at all. I did see some stingray and rattlesnake skins, and a bunch of exotic hardwood handles, but they were retarded expensive. Only saw one gun I wanted, a .17hmr 9 shot revolver with a 2in bbl. Anyways, I did get these.

US ARMY cold weather mittens with liners, and a pair of deerskin gloves. Paid 10.00 for the mittens with liners, brand new, and 8.00 fr the deerskin gloves. Pretty good deal. Got an Army survival manual too, not really needed, but I dont have that one yet. Saw some vintage compass too, but didnt want to come off 160.00 for a ww2 one.

The mitens are great. I really like em, and the deer skins are really soft and well made.
