Hi Im 14 and looking into folders. I live in canada and have been looking into Benchmade and SOG knives. Any other good quality brands that wont cost me over 100$ Any Suggestions?

Hi KidKnife, welcome to the forum. This is the Traditional Knives forum, so there won't be much talk about the knives you have mentioned, but there are lots and lots of very fine, usable knives for less than $100 being discussed here, so please look around......

Kershaw and Spyderco both make excellent folders that you should be able to pick up for under $100. The Ken Onion designed knives from Kershaw (Leek, Scallion, and Chive) or the Spyderco Delica and Endura are all very popular knives that make excellent "every day carry" blades.

Hey thanks for the suggestions! I'm just new to the whole knives thing. I'll look into all those.

My top 3 favorite companies for knives under $100 (in no particular order):

Spyderco
Benchmade
Kershaw

Benchmade Axis lock. 710 or Griptilian. You won't be satisfied until you get one. Might as well get it first.

Traditional Knives forum?! :eek::yawn:

Here are some "un-traditional" knives for you (modern?):
Benchmade and Spyderco, you cannot go wrong with any of these.

Kershaw and Spyderco...

kershaw, and spyderco young man.

...
Spyderco
Benchmade
Kershaw

Spyderco all the way:thumbup:

Benchmade Axis lock. 710 or Griptilian...

 Yeah, what they said.

My current fav is Kershaw/Zero Tolerance. But I have knives from the ones mentions above. All will offer very high quality and high value folding knives for under $100.

Like they say, other than the two brands you mentioned, you can't go wrong with either Spyderco or Kershaw. I'd also like to add Boker and (gulp) Cold Steel into consideration.

good advice I have nothing to all, they have all said it.

I am a kershaw guy myself, pretty much all ive carried is kershaw, it all started with a all black scallion years ago.

I also like benchmade, but I do now own any yet

spyderco get a lot of reccommendations, but I just dont like the blade shape on them, there are those I do like, but they are all more than id like to spend on a knife at this point.

that said I really think kershaw is the best value out there. they really do put out an excellent product for not a lot of money and if you want to spend more you can get some really fantastic stuff. but that can also be said of any of the 3 mentioned.

If you want to get a good knive at a price well under $100, I'd go with a Kershaw or a Spyderco. Benchmade also has quite a few under $100 as well, but closer to it for the most part.

Whatever you pick, make sure it is ok with the parents

all of these are great! i would also add the buck 110 and benchmade to your list.

Young padawan, I will recommend you 4 knives that are way, way cheaper than $100. Get a few years experience with a good budget knife, and afterwards you'll be able to choose a new knife better for your own tastes.
Always check with your parents before buying.

- Victorinox Soldier (or the Farmer with also a saw). Strong, practical, compact, doesn't scare anyone. A classic, one of the best SAKs.

- Boker Plus Trance (2 versions, this is the drop point): very light and thin, hence easy to carry, and a bargain

- Eka Masur: a stylish bargain. Very good actually.

- (somewhat bigger): Spyderco Tenacious. One of those products where you wonder: why pay more?
