What grit do you grind to?

I've read a few of the posts regarding sand paper and was wondering what grit most usually grind their bevels to. I usually just leave a belt finish of about 750 grit and call it a day (ground post HT). Sometimes I go finer, but not usually. I'm presently only working with AEB-L, but will be adding S35VN to the mix.

I almost always come off the grinder with a trizact A45 finish which equates to about a 400 grit. From there, I either begin hand finishing or the blade is ready to go as a field grade knife. Many of my field grade/tacticals get Cerakote and the A45 finish is perfect for that. I do a lot of hand finishing these days as that reflects more the kind of product I want to make.

I mix things up a lot depending on the knife but I'd say 600 grit on average. This is usually a base for my finish...

I am now down to the cork belt thing with loaded green chrome polish! I can take this to the buffing wheel for a high mirror finish which is what I prefer. I will often go from the cork belt application to the buffer and back again if necessary.

Hunter/utility I usually go 400 true then 800 on top. Kitchen knives and the like usually 800 true, 1200 on top, then the green polish.
