What handgun would your pair up with your favorite Khukuri?

If I were out in the brush and more concerned with two legged predators, and did not mind them seeing the hardware from a distance. I would carry my awesome Kesar GS and my Springfield race .45 I can shoot out a gnats ass at 25 with that baby.

If I were tryiny to keep my carry concealed, my 15" Siru and Kimber Ultra CDP would make a nice concealement package.

I'd put an H&K P7M8 with my AK Bowie or a USP45 with my 21" Gelbu Special. Those were trusty tough guns to match.
I sold all my pistols a while back, I'm thinking of getting another one. I like those Springfield and Kimber 45s.

As far as I'm concerned, Kimber does 1911A1's the way they should have been done for the last 20 years. Colt got complacent and started putting out a pretty inferior product for a long time, and kept jacking up the price to boot as they went.

Springfield, for years acted like they couldn't decide if they wanted to be serious contenders for the 1911A1 market or not.

The best thing to happen to the 1911A1 was when Kimber entered the market and started delivering well-made, reliable pistols with a stack of standard features that most gun companies would have only offered on custom guns.

Colt still can't get its head out of its butt, now charging nearly a THOUSAND dollars for their MILITARY SPEC 1911A1.

Springfield on the other hand has gotten serious now and is offering a terrific line of 1911A1's. I just wish they didn't have so many sharp edges and corners......

Interesting. I've heard good things about Kimber from others but am not familiar with their product myself. I am thinking about a compact. IIRC, Kimber uses a flared barrel lockup instead of a bushing. Any experience with this configuration? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

my colt 1911 my WWII
or
my beretta 92 my sirupate

or take them both sort of like a double date

When Kimber introduced its 1911 version, it got way out ahead of the pack right away because of CNC machining. They could mass-produce guns with a custom fit. I got one and the slide to frame fit was almost as tight as my custom wadgun. However, the other companies are getting CNC equipment and pretty soon there probably won't be much difference. S&W is CNC machining now I believe.

Semper Fi:

Had an Officer's Model with bushing and flared barrel. It shot better than my Gold Cup but was too light for rapid fire with that round. Got rid of both of them, but I suspect Kimber's fixed bushing is better and even more accurate than the Officer's.

No personal ownership experience, but having borrowed a couple, the pistols are real sweet. Very reliable, and shoot very accurately.

A couple years back Kimber adopted a firing pin safety a la the Series 80 Colt, but of a different configuration. I believe it was called the "Schwartz System". Some glitchiness with the first models released with it, now fixed and running fine.

Of the several dozen or so folks I know who've had Kimbers, they swear by them. I believe one fellow had troubles with his that were never resolved to his satisfaction. I'm not surprised because as you know, every company can make a lemon at one time or another.

I keep eyeing their alloy-framed 4" model with the Officer's-sized frame, but, kinda hard to justify an expenditure that will put me close to another thousand dollars just to shave a quarter inch off the barrel and a half-inch off the grip from what I already have (Colt Lightweight Commander).

But man, those Kimbers sure do look pretty. I wish I'd have bought one of their alloy-framed compacts when they were only $650. But back then I was barely keeping up with paying the bills. Those were not good times.....

Thanks for the comments, fellas. Reliable and accurate are key words to me. I can see my khuk money waving bye bye. My gun habit is worse than HIKV. :D

Kimbers rock as long as you stick with the Series 1 guns. They got uppity and put that stupid Schwartz-like firing pin block safety in the Series 2 guns and their QC went to heck. Now they are hit or miss. I swear by my Series 1 though.

I did go to "fight" with my M43 and a Les Baer .45 which I vented a while back on the forums. It worked for me.:)

I use my tools, I'm a do'er not a dreamer.:D
