What happened to DOTDs?...

Have we been bad? :(

They aren't on everyday Eric. Yangdu frequently takes the weekend off, and during the week I think will save up a couple of shipments in order to be able to offer a good selection.

From what she said last week I know we have more Salyan's coming as well.

Regards,

Norm

Dude, the last few months have seen the most awesome DOTDs we have ever had.
Variety, exotic woods, rare, unheard of and one of a kind models, Holy Cannoli !

And take a look at that sh!7 !

Antler Trishul, Baby chits, sarge knives...

Man, for years the DOTD was always AKs, cobras and Gelbus.
Nothing wrong with those sweeties, to be sure, but the variety we have today is outstanding.

On the contrary, I think we've been good. Two specials on Thursday, two today, and who knows what tomorrow. And, as Danny said, they've been full of variety. Why, there's a 15" Salyan waiting to find its owner at this very moment.

We must remember two things:

1. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. If the specials come too quickly, the sharks become glutted (read: everyone runs out of money), items sit, and it makes things more difficult than they need to be for Yangdu. It's happened before.

2. There are numerous items always available at www.himalayan-imports.com and they're always a steal. (Plenty of good reading, too, after I'm broke.) Sure, I kick myself when I buy something at full price and another sells for half price later that week but it was a pretty good deal at full price when you get down to it. Everything is a DOTD - that's the wonder of it. My very first khukuri was from the website, and you know what? Nearly a year later, I realize that it was worth so much more than what I paid for it. It will outlive me.

Aunt Yangdu really spoils us with these specials sometimes. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Personally, I just HATE the idea that Internet-surfing non-forumites check in here for a couple of days, score a hot bargain khukuri (They usually call them "khuks" ) and then split for parts unknown. They contribute nothing to the HI community and are, in my opinion, only opportunistic parasites.
How about that? : :grumpy:

It seems that the big sharks in this aquarium stick around for the most part.

Which is a good thing...I think.

Are you talking about me? I've been registered on BF for 4 years, and most of it was in the cantina. I'm a full time student and work my ass off to pay my way through school. I don't work at a job where I sit in front of a computer, and if I did, I'd probably be doing actual work rather than playing around online. Notice some of the crazy times I post at. So yeah, I lurk a lot, and don't always post. But I'm here pretty often, I don't just take a kuk and leave. Hell, I've never even bought one yet. I'm here enough to know the real names and occupations of most of the regular forumites and their family members, Brian, and catch all the zombie and bear jokes. I'm also here to know HI forumites pride themselves on the family atmosphere around here. If you want to call me a parasite for it, I want to tell you to go **** yourself.

Maybe something like an upload/download ratio: For every X hot deals you get, you have to buy Y of the last blade left on a deal that 's been up for a while so the new deal gets posted?
:)

Peace, Bretheren and Sisteren. The money all goes to a good cause - supporting the BG/HI family in the third poorest county on earth. No need to enter into verbal fisticuffs and inconsistent with the atmosphere Uncle Bill tried to develop here. Some DOTD items have gone several dayas before being purchased.
