And some of those end up being really nice... At first I thought blades were sitting because there was something wrong with them, but I've realized after picking up a couple that sat and reading more and more posts that a fair number of people already have one or more village WWIIs, AKs and such...or that they're saving for a particular thing.
I've gone back through old DOTD threads and just happened to notice days later that maybe one knife was not posted on, which doesn't mean anything because some folks will just write Yangdu directly during the sale. Sometimes I have written to Yangdu and asked the silly question as to its availability, and of course usually it's long gone, and she just didn't update the thread. But a couple of times it did not sell and is still available. I got my Napoleon sword that way from Uncle Bill, and it was 4 or 5 days later.
That kind of reinforces my belief that the right blade will come to you in time.
Everybody is welcome to stop by here and buy something. I was a newbie once myself, and I have seen Eric around many times. The only minor irritation I have personally felt is when some one of a kind jewel comes along, and the new guy stops by for a half-hour and snags it, and says something like this looks kinda cool, maybe it will be good to dig up potatos with or something!

I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean? Like "Oh what's this jade handled custom Foxy Folly anyway? Maybe I should have got a beater AK anyway, but oh well!" and we never see or hear from him again.
The way I figure it maybe those blades _were_ meant for those guys, and someday they or one of their relatives might come back and be another Munk or Yvsa or Berkley, etc., etc. because they were inspired by the knife, even though they could not appreciate it at the time.
Hope that makes some sense. As for Eric's point about being online all the time, he's right. I'm at the computer all day, going on 16 hours today. If I spend an hour reading Bladeforums and happen to be on top of the DOTD within seconds, that's a little perk in exchange for the upaid 50 hours a week I'm putting in!

My employer already gets all of my life that really matters to me, while I get this and maybe a little sleep from time to time, so I don't feel terribly bad about "stealing" his time.
