What Happened to Great Lakes Water Jet

Don,

Steve,

I just had a member point out your recent post.
Just so you know I successfully cut .020 superalloy and knife details to tight specs everyday of the week with the new machine.
I tried to tell you during our phone conversation a couple weeks ago but was cut off by your bad signal that we have to slow feedrates down to get nice parts in thin material due to the large size of the new machine (6' x 12'). I think you might have been expecting the same price as 2 1/2 years ago. Hopefully you found another source and it worked out for you. It was not my intent to have you feel like I was ungrateful for the opportunity to do your clips again but you never called back once you got a better signal so I could explain my position.

Best Regards,

Mark

I don't know who to use if not Dave who works in the knife industry and knows at least what you are talking about. I normally split my orders between him and Mark here on BFs but here lately when I tried that Mark shut me down due to the thickness and didn't want the order. I was told on the phone by Mark that he could not cut my clip blanks with his new machine and due to having to step back the machine or something that was apparently a bigger deal than my order was worth. So from the sounds of this Don it sounds like he won't be able to cut your liner material either because that is what my clip sheets of titanium are at .045 thickness. Mark gave me the very distinct impression that he was not cutting thinner material and so my order went elsewhere. I had five sheets 36" long needing clip blanks cut. Just so you know.

Dave cut some blades for me about 2 months ago . I had them in about 2 weeks from the time I mailed him the steel .

Your bad for assuming because price was not even discussed. I called to discuss it and work the deal out and got the message pretty quick that you didn't want the order Mark and it seemed pretty clear to me that you didn't like cutting thin material as you drew back almost as if the inconvenience of the thought was uncomfortable to even fathom! I don't know why you would expect a call back after that reaction because you made it clear or I thought. I had a good order for clips. A real good one that will choke me when the bill comes. That call by the way was the last one I put up with from Vonage as it has cut me off from my mother and others the same way. However, in your case the bases were covered or so I thought based on your reply to me in the short chat we had.

I'm glad you posted because I was feeling used to be perfectly honest with you. Like I was worthy of your time when you needed work but now I'm no longer needed and my order was not big enough for you or you assumed I was difficult to work with on a price even though it was not really discussed. I knew when I called you it would be a $1500 to $2000 order no doubt about it. Seriously though, your reaction and attitude toward me is why I didn't call you back nothing else. I felt as if you were giving me the cold shoulder rather than just say you don't want to deal with me for some reason I'm not aware of. If that is the case I'd prefer you just say that than make excuses.

Sorry I couldn't better consult you on my position so you didn't have to make assumptions.
Didn't intend on leaving you with that bad of impression but also didn't want to spend time on a project to loose money either.
No hard feeling here Steve.

Well I hope not. We'll leave it at that and my apologies the rest was off topic.

Gentleman, I'm sure this situation can be resolved some other way than in this tread. It has drifted far away from the OP. My mom always told me not to air my dirty laundry and that is what I suggest you do as well. Just my humble opinion.

Yes indeed. Please take this offline or to Feedback. Thank you.

I felt if he could not cut the thinner material it deserved being known. As for the rest perhaps you are right. The whole affair left me bitter. I apologize for my burst of emotion. It just came out.

Sure thing Jason,

Sorry for even responding and didn't feel it was even a concern until someone pointed out the posts.
I wish I could please everyone but sometimes things just don't work out the way we intend them too.
Sorry to all for this thread getting misdirected.
Also happy things are going really good for David, he's a talented guy.

Best Regards,

Mark

While I know what it's like to get the feeling that your order doesn't seem important enough to a supplier, I've never got this feeling from Mark. He has done several orders of blanks for me(around 30 pieces each) and been awesome with communications and service.
Anyone can have a bad experience with a great company, but that doesn't mean the ones experience is indicative of the companies overall business philosophy. Nor does it mean that the customer is not accurately describing their side. I have had this type of experience personally with the beloved "Pops knife supply". I got jumped all over because I posted a bad experience with Pops. No one wanted to believe anyone had a bad experience with Pops. Since then James Poplin and I have spoken and all is well. We both agreed it was a mis/lack of communication on both parts. Maybe that's what happened here, but nothing but great experiences with Mark here.

Wow, walk away from a thread for a day and ....Wow.

I'll leave this up if anyone has some pertinent info, but I will move it to "The Good, Bad, and Ugly" tomorrow.

No no don't do that. I can edit the posts and leave them if you think it is better to do that and just say instead off topic. My apologies to the forum. Obviously I had more pent up anger than I was aware of and its not like me to explode so. My apologies to all.
