What happened to JTKnives

I think I must have missed the calendar incident... Then again I usually only followed the threads he started in the Shop Talk forum...

I'm not sure if Stacy is talking about a different calendar, but the one I remember him doing was not released on time and used photos that other makers provided to him. He was charging a premium for it and didn't tell anyone about the mark up. When I questioned him he had his girlfriend come in and tell me what an honest and wonderful guy he was and although he justified the markup as "costs" associated with putting it together, he never offered any explanation as to why he told no-one he was charging a fee for something he "volunteered" to do.

Yeah. And I hear his feet smelled funny too.

Hey, he's not here, so lets all dog pile on him.

I never had any problems with him at all, quite the opposite, he helped me out a number of times, going out of his way to answer questions. I was wondering what happened to him because I really enjoyed his WIPs and unique projects (I don't care who you are, that stainless grinder was awesome, however overkill it might have been!).

Nathan - I think you know as well as anyone that I'll say the same to him if he is. I can't speak for anyone else, but none of this is something I haven't voiced when he was around.

Yeah, I know.

I think that, on the outside, you're a cantankerous crank. But deep inside, you're really just a cantankerous crank. And I'll tell you that the next time I see you too, perhaps over a beer or something...

crank

:D

Actuall I contacted Jarod Todd in November of 2008 to build a custom bowie, it is now over 2 1/2 years later and I'm still waiting. I paid him $400 upfront, and between Nov. 2010 and Feb. 2011, I had no contact with him for almost three months, when I repeatedly tried to e-mail him. When he finally responded to my e-mail, we agreed to have the project completed by next month. I am waiting to see if he will make good. We had originally discussed a time period of 6 months, but it is now almost 2 years past the completion time. I strongly urge anyone on bladeforums to refrain from ordering any of his knives or other products until he can make good on the orders he has now. I will post back in May with an update.

Cheers, Ken

Wow, sorry to hear that, Ken! I really hope everything turns out well on your transaction. I will likely be in Utah in June/July, you need me to bust some kneecaps? :D Just kidding - there's lots of guys out in UT already that you can ask!

Wow. There is no excuse for that.

Well... Jarod was supposed to have the knife done by the beginning of the month (may). I sent him an E-mail on the 5th of may, and after 6 days of no reply sent another. He has responded, but yet again the knife isin't finished. I've told him that I am cancelling the project and want my $400 refunded. He has agreed to repay me in installments via paypal., over the next couple of months. I commend him for being a decent human being and responding to my e-mails instead of ignoring me as many infamously bad makers have done to others in the past. I will post again when I have received payment. IWhile it turns out Jarod Todd seems genuinely to be a decent person, unfortunately, he is not a knife maker.

Cheers, Ken

Ken, Sorry to hear you were taken. Don't hold your breath on being refunded. He always had someone waiting for something. Yet he was always posting things he was making for his shop. ZERO priority and respect!

Well, it's over 2 months since I cancelled the project and have yet to receive a dime of my money from this Punk ass Bitch wannabe knife maker, and now he's not responding to my e-mails... I paid via paypal, and I still have the receipts (electronically), does anyone know if I have any recourse thru paypal?

Read the PayPal FAQ regarding disputes
You have 45 days to do so & may have waited too long.
