What happened to Newt Livesay?

I would really sincerely appreciate it if someone could tell me exactly what happened to Newt Livesay. I gave up waiting for my pre-paid knife order from 2001 (an painful and expensive lesson). Every so often, I still see people mentioning his knives. Is he still making knives, given up, or gone bankrupt? Had several e-mails and phone conversations with him over the years past (last one in 2004?), always saying the knives were ready to be shipped. Any definitive info would be appreciated. Raising a family on my modest income, I'm bitter. But it's time to move on. I'd just like to know what happened to him.
 
IIRC newt lost a lot of money in the stock market and got behind with orders and is not presently making knives.

he does (did?) make some good stuff, had one of his "uji" (?) knives and a woo and both were good knives for the $$,
