What Happened to Talonite?

wtf how did it taste?

That's the thing. I didn't even notice the broken tip until the next day. I was kind of sweating for 24 hours, wondering whether the tip would pass through without nicking anything vital. It wasn't like it might get lodged somehwere, and quickly corrode in my colon. I no longer use my Mini-Talon for food prep.

hehe i can imagine you were worried.. no shit

im gonna make some knives this winter with talonite, just have to get some carbide drillbits (i will test these to destruction just 4 fun, and compare them to kj ericsson moras). i guess i ill see how it works out. based on matweb im going with 60+% thicker blades than i would choose steel. hey knives are supposed to be fun, and ill make sure i have some fun....

tanolite is realy not a very good replacement for steel , there is however one use that is is very good for,, making nonmagnetic diving kniv es for the military,, but the price is not very attractive,, needing a peice 6mm or so thick and 30 cm long and 4cm wide isnt cheap,, about 160$ directly form the maker of the material,

titanium isnt much good for the diving knives, and the tanolite outcutts it anyday..........

I have a Camillus EDC in Talonite, and a mission knives folder in beta Ti ( as well as the sintered ti from boker). I have to admit I prefer ZDP steel for normal, everyday cutting purposes.

I also have to admit that I haven't done any cliff like head to head studies between them but I like the sharpness and edge holding of the ZDP the best.IMO any of them will give you a little trouble if you are whittling and hit a hidden nail. That goes for most steels as a matter of fact. joe
