What happened to the Busse Company Store? Why no explanation for it's disappearence?

Busse Company Store and the owner, Skunk, were high profile here for a long time-Skunk had close to 20,000 posts here but since 4/12, nothing. The BCS was the only sanctioned retail outlet. Now, the site is long gone and there has been no discussion or explanation. Seems EXTREMELY odd that there hasn't been anything by way of explanation from the Busse Company as they had a business relationship with Skunk. I have searched everywhere for any info but there is nothing posted on any of the Busse forums or the other "usual" sites. Not trying to dig up a conspiracy but it would seem only natural for some kind of explanation from Busse. The silence is deafening.

Congrats on the first post! Thats a helluva lurkin job you did there
Busse themselves have seemed to expand on there own quite a bit the last few years (many more constant offerings). Nothing against Skunk whatsoever but the offerings have in no way descreased, rather the opposite from this perspective.

Thanks!

Yeah, they seem to have upped the output to meet the demand, as a profitable business is apt to do...

That still doesn't explain the disappearance of the BCS and or Skunk. I always found the BCS a rather quirky part of the Busse business model and I am not in the least surprised to see it go but shocked to see it vanish without any explanation or discussion. Like I said, the silence is deafening...

No it isn't.
In no way are we owed an explanation.

Its their business, and their's only, and none of mine/ours.
If they feel we needed to know they would've told us.
..... this !! Why are "we" owed anything.. ?? Is that not all between Busse Co and Skunk ??? Are you or anyone else "out" anything ? If not I suggest that then no one is "owed" anything.

No, we aren't owed anything, but from a company that encourages a family/ brotherhood feeling with its customers, maybe a little more than nothing is expected.

ETA, I don't think they are keeping secrets and it really is their business, I'm sure now that the question has been asked, someone will be around with an answer.

Exactly! It is hard to believe they weren't proactive with this and made some sort of announcement up front, rather than keep silent until the herd starts asking questions. The BCS was a primary outlet for their knives and gear and Skunk, with close to 20,000 posts here, was at the center of it all. Suddenly the web site disappears and so does Skunk. All without a single word. Yeah, it is very odd, especially in light of the Busse marketing approach- where the customers are all brother "hogs", "let's drink!" drinking buddies, the company newletter, etc. Busse marketing is all about building a close knit community. Now a big part of that community has been erased without a word....The only thing stranger than the silence from Busse is the seeming indifference on this forum. I would have thought by now that there would have been many people wondering about Skunk and the BCS. It is their business and I have no interest in the details, just some sort of release to clarify things would seem to be the least they could have done. Not only is it good business but given the history of the BCS, Skunk, and this forum, the way they have fostered and built a community here, it is only natural for people here familiar with it all to deserve some sort of explanation. It is just smart PR for any number of reasons and I have always thought Busse extremely astute when it comes to marketing and PR.

I assure you I do not mean this to sound rude in any way but with someone so concerned with the community, why did it take you 5 years to post? The bond I feel with my hog bros have never felt stronger personally and the knife options are honestly more then I wish was offered ($$$$ : P ). Yeah he did kinda fall off, but this is still his playground. If he posts we all know who the top hog is, next to the Bully of course : P

It is rude: a classic "attack the messenger". I have had no need to be concerned with the community until now. My question is an honest one and I am not alone in wondering what is up.

I miss the Busse Company Store as well because he typically offered items that Busse never offered such as dog tags, hoodies, embroidered logo T-shirt's, etc. Would love to see some of that stuff offered again because I missed out on most of it. I also miss Skunk's many posts, as well as pictures of his awesome collection. It would be a shame to never hear from him again, but I'm sure he has good reasons for what he is doing now.

They don't owe you guys anything? Really?

Considering how some people have spent tens of thousands in buying and collecting their knives, and the fact that the Hogs have always been in huge support of them, I believe they do "OWE" their community a little something at least.

If I was the owner of a knife company with the same incredible amount of support and the huge cult following that Busse gets, you can bet your ass that I sure as Hell would feel that I owe my supporters something.

What do you think gives you the right to know why a company makes certain business decisions?
When my local Target closed they did not deem necessary to inform me of the reasons.

They did not make anyone go buy their knives, I am amazed at the sense of entitlement some people show.

Interesting reading & noting various comments as a relative new guy. Can see the reason for the attitude from both sides -but leaning more towards a company "owing" their customers: a quality product and great customer service. It's your choice to purchase or trade elsewhere. And that's the freedom inherent in economic capitalism.

Have a great 2014!..Cheers.
