What happened to the Busse Company Store? Why no explanation for it's disappearence?

Skunk always had the best posts....

Anyone remember "skunk junk"? LOL... those were the days.... :D

What do you think gives you the right to know why a company makes certain business decisions?
When my local Target closed they did not deem necessary to inform me of the reasons.

No one said anything about the why behind the decision- we haven't even been told there was a decision...And when's the last time you went to dinner with the CEO of Target, or drank all night with him? Or even corresponded with him? Busse, as most everyone seems to know and understand, is all about community, brotherhood and the cult of the trough. Their reputation is based on customer service and the close relationship they have built with their customer base. Acting like Target is not what made Busse customers loyal in the first place and not what they have come to expect; I suspect that if they were like Target they wouldn't have the cult-like following they enjoy.

They did not make anyone go buy their knives, I am amazed at the sense of entitlement some people show.

I'm frankly amazed at the amount of koolaid that's drunk on these forums. Knife makers/companies develop such devout fanboys on these forums that their obvious faux pas (just realized I don't know the plural of faux pas) are so vehemently defended. Legally, the company doesn't owe anyone an explanation. But ethically and for the sake of customer service, yeah, I absolutely think they need to address the situation.

I don't think the people who participate in this community feel like it needs to be said. For one reason or another, the Store is closed. There are a couple of reasons why this could be, but we don't really feel the need to shine the spotlight on it.

Skunk may have had enough and stepped aside. Busse may have decided they no longer wanted to do the Store since they upgraded their website and severed the relationship. There could be another reason we don't know.

It's not really my concern to air someone else's dirty laundry.

The first time I got something from the store, I didn't think I got any skunk junk and felt disappointed. About a week later I found one of my wife's cats playing with a lanyard that I'd never seen before. Either skunk slipped it in the box and it fell out when I opened and I didn't notice... or my wife is cheating on me with another knife guy ;)

I think I still have a dog tag from skunk somewhere...

Why? Skunk was a private individual selling Busse knives and Busse branded items that he bought direct. Aside from that, he had no affiliation with the Busse Combat knife company. If any form of notice or reason were required for his absence, it would be from Skunk and not Busse. Are you under the assumption that the Busse Company Store was a Busse run outlet? Not true....

It was clearly run as a de facto outlet for the Busse company. Without Busse's explicit participation and tacit approval, they wouldn't have gotten the merchandise they did. No one else did. It was named, after all, the Busse Company Store, not Skunk's Busse Store. One does indeed wonder why nothing has been posted by Skunk but in my opinion, as Busse is/was the parent company whose merchandise was marketed through the BCS, they bear the majority of the burden for clarifying the situation. The whole silence/info blackout is completely out of character for all involved and thus very strange.

The Question has been asked.
How about we all call it a night or couple nights and let those that know the details (not me) if any, decide what to do ?

Arguing and chest puffing will not bring anything good of this.

step back, breath and post something about the knives we all love.

Let's drink Rootbeer :)

WHAT! You mean you actually got something useful!!!

I've received various random cr@p including marbles... a small plastic car... and a clump of hair as my skunk junk. The hair may be yeti hair or Skunks nose hair. I'm told they are similar in appearance by experts in the field. Either way I've had it hermetically sealed in case it has future value.

Lanyard, a dog tag, and more than one marble that I can remember...

No hair samples for dna cloning purposes, though.

My impression is that skunk conceived of the BCS as something fun to do; he didn't need the money. After a while, maybe it became not so fun to run a retail operation, and he just tired of it and moved on to enjoy his time in other ways.

I think it would be far more useful if there was some official statement rather than idle speculation by third parties.

I've met skunk and even broken bread with the man and was FB freinds with him for awhile until I think he dissolved his account. With that being said I personally don't think it's any of my business what happened if anything with his relationship with Busse Combat or the BCS. I personally like the idea of BC going back to having some stock of knives like they used to have back in the day. (sorry collectors:o)

I hear ya bro. But the thing is that Busse marketing is mostly all about speculation given that the knives are made in limited runs. What knife comes next? As far as I know, only one man knows.

Jerry believes in his marketing plan. And he should... It's worked pretty well for him.

It is sad that sometimes threads seem to veer toward the negative tendencies of folks despite the intent of the OP.

I'm hopeful that everyone can try to keep things positive...

The Busse family runs multiple operations with an exceptional level of quality and variety. They put a lot of effort in keeping close with their customers and friends. One offshoot of that operation took a break. We all have a right to privacy.

watanabe, you asked your question hours and hours ago, and you've asked it again and again until now. How about you put it to bed for the night and maybe by tomorrow someone in the know will see it and consider an answer.

They can reopen the thread at that time.
