I bet. Gonna have to try some of that.:)

I think the tang is fine the knife is pretty stout. I am like Murph I dont like serrations now. I dont know if I turned into a knife snob or what. I would say for a BK14 I would trade. Its a good knife. Would I buy one again for me now.....No

I don't know...Noss beat the piss out of an lmf asek 2... Rated it pretty high.... I had already bought one, but have never really used it much....but I was pleased to watch the D- test after I had it....
It did better than a well known maker semi- custom one piece fixed blade.... Can't Really Know ahead of time it would do that badly.

Glad to hear it did good. I have been pretty rough with mine and it hasnt let me down. I am thinking maybe I can just sharpen the serrations out :D

You know, my old man had a set of cutco kitchen knives years ago that he really liked, and paid a butt load for. The main serrated knife was great until it went dull. He was not the type to bother with returning the thing.. He just bought another. For some reason, while a good knife, it wasn't as good as the first. So he attempted to sharpen the first one. Cutco serrations were kind of unique back then, so it was basically a mess. He ended up grinding the serrations out, and sharpening by hand... Worked, but looked like hell..I suspect if you did that to yours, it would look like hell too....but to each, his own.

Thinking about it a nice taco with some of that snakeskin leather and a molle lock would be pretty nice. Pm me 710 I'm interested. :D

Just went and played with a Germer LMF. The handle is ok but I dont like the rubberized grip, I know I would tear that. And I do not like the serrations, plain edges for me only I guess!

Just stripped the bk15. Wow, should have done this months ago.

So I've had this Bill Siegle Hardcore for awhile now.
7" long blade, 1/4" thick
I like it. A lot!

So my son, who will be 4 in a week, has this little backpack that he fills with toys (mostly Batman and Star Wars figures and Hot Wheels) and carries everywhere. I often ask him to dump out the pack and show me what cool stuff he's got. Today he had the usual but sitting right on top was his knife and compass. I dont think I could have been any prouder. He said, "I have my knife and my finder (thats what he calls the compass) just like you, Daddy" That brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. Thought I would share it with you guys.

Sadly I think his compass is way cooler than mine (its all I got--what can I say)--Actually if you look, they both have the same innards. SMKW sells compasses that are no better than the kid's compass which was purchased elsewhere (and the toy was actually more expensive)--I think his knife is sharper than mine too--I am much better at dulling my blades than sharpening:D

man, thats so cool, great photo, thanks for sharing! in this PC day and age, I'm shocked fisherprice even makes plastic knives

"I have my knife and my finder (thats what he calls the compass) just like you, Daddy"

This kid's goin places in the world  That's probably the cutest darn thing I ever heard and I ain't one to daww that often.

I can see the kiddy t-shirt now "Children of Beckerheads; putting Boy Scouts to shame since 1985 (or proper date of our loony bins establisment)" :D

great stuff.....i am pretty sure that knife is older than it looks--it looks like the stuff my little sisters played with when they were his age and they are both in their mid 20s

Somebody much wiser than I once posted that serrations belong on the forward edge, while the sweet spot near the pommel should be reserved for a plain edge for carving, etc.
It certainly makes a lot of sense, but VERY few knife companies produce a knife like that.

I've read that too and I think you would definitely improve its carving possibilities, but I'm afraid that the serrations aren't as functional then? When they're near the pommel, you can put quite some force on them for push or draw cutting. I can imagine that when the serrations are on the top of the blade, you could use them with less force, making them less functional? Or would this difference be neglegible?
