A couple days ago someone posted that his Emerson had been returned for service 4 times for the same problem....lock rock or something. Complained about spending $100 and it still wasn't right.

Emerson rep said it sounded fishy but he would take care of it, etc. As I recall there were at least 2 pages of posts.

I wanted to check back on it and now I can't find that thread anywhere. Am I just missing it or was it removed??

EDIT: Now I find that what i posted to that thread isn't even in my profile anymore. What gives here?? Someone PLEASE embarrass me and tell me I'm just overlooking someting..... wth??

Just missing it. It's still here. Still on the first page of Emerson posts.

Thanks, Dale. I'll look again....

OK, this is bizarre. I still don't see it. I'm not talking about the one titled, "Sad State of Emerson Fit and Finish.... (Rant)." It's a different one---guy talks about having sent the knife in 4 times for repair. I can't remember the heading though.

Would you or someone please send me a link or at least give me the header on it so I can find it again? As I mentioned, I can't even find it in my profile now. Maybe it's my browser????? Weird.

I couldnt find it yesterday even at the end of the day after reading some cqc13 stuff.
Perhaps it was a big misunderstanding?

I can't see it either, I assumed Emerson rep deleted it..

Dunno, Bella. Sounds like you know the one I"m talking about.

So...they just erased everything as if it didn't happen? My post to it isn't even accessible in my profile now.

Never heard of anything like this. They just made it go away everywhere??? Can someone rationalize them doing that, please? After all, this is a forum.

Did it disappear from your personal profile references too...where you can't even find it anymore??

Maybe I'm slow here, but never seen that happen at BF before. I know they do transfer them to Whine & Cheese at times, but not just make them vanish like it was never there.

I didn't post in the thread so I can't see it from my profile but I did see something similar happen in the cold steel forum where a thread vanished into thin electronic air. The thread asked about child labor producing their knives overseas or some such and then went poof a short while later. (Don't remember exact topic of thread, could be slightly off)

OK, thanks. But personally, I'm not liking it. I'll wait for EmRep's response to this. Right now I feel like if there was some misunderstanding there it should have been addressed. explained and put to bed in public---not censored. They were defensive about the guy's post from the git-go. If his post was correct he had a legitimate beef. If not, it should have been pointed out.

Bladeforums moderators move some posts or threads offline, to a moderators forum known as the Back End. We can still see it, and a move like that usually generates at least a warning explaining why it was moved. I just checked the Back End but I'm hunting in the dark.

I'm not a fan of censorship either, I noticed it was missing before you started this thread and thought it was odd. Just because it disappeared doesn't mean we all instantly forgot lol

Interesting, thank for the info.

Thanks, Mr. Benyamin. Assuming that means even YOU can't find it now, I'm sure EmRep will have a legitimate explanation.

Yeah, I knew you probably weren't. Surely this will be solved by the end of the day. I know there are two sides to most things. We'll see what the Rep says.

In the end, that thread was a bit bogus, and probably should have been hidden/moved/deleted/ect.....

It was removed because we are handling it privately. We are having problems with knife chop contacting us. I felt it didn't need to be up here anymore as all further responses were getting out of hand.

Dear Members,

For gosh sakes; we are not censoring anyone. My name and my company's name has been dragged through the mud a number of times on this forum. It's nothing new to us.

We simply can't find this guy in our system and he won't reply to our inquiries. Why? I can only guess.

Let me tell you a couple of stories. Here on this forum a couple of years back there was a guy who I guess loved to hate us. He posted many negative posts and one time became so emboldened that he claimed he had owned "several hundred" Emersons over time and had sent all of them back to the dealers for refunds. As a result there were probably 4 or 5 pages of piling on by the Emerson haters and a couple thousand views before I came on and simply asked this question. Please tell us the dealer, and show us some receipts or something, because we should have been getting those "hundreds" of knives back from the dealer(s). We actually have one of the lowest return rates in the industry and there are some months when we only get 1 or 2 knives back in total. Anyway the guy immediately went dark and never posted on the Emerson forum again. I guess he was trying the "Big Lie" theory. But his damage was done.

Then there was the time when a guy was upset over "something" and posted a page full of rants about us, our knives and our customer service. He went as far as saying that we were totally ignoring him. Again the pile on and couple thousand views. Until I published (posted) all of his emails back and forth to us where he had admitted he had done something wrong with his order and apologized in those emails yet had conveniently forgot to post and continued to bash us. Take note - like I said until I posted his email chain. Not only had we responded immediately (not ignoring him) but it was his screw up from the get go. Poof, another guy who then vaporized. But once again the damage was done. Yeah, those Emersons are a bunch of jerks!

There is another customer who was here on this forum who placed an order, then cancelled the order and wanted a refund. This was at 12:53 AM our time. We got into work the next morning and sent him a response at 7:11 AM and his money was posted back to his account by 8:30 AM. Less than 12 hours elapsed time. But no, he had written a lengthy email sometime between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM to the Better Business Bureau that we were holding his money and that he could file a criminal lawsuit against us. Once I produced the chain of emails and the time line to the BBB they removed his complaint and threw it in the round file. Of course he still went on to trash us here and a couple of other places. Each time all I had to do was post up the copies of the emails and the true time line and he would go mute every time. Once again a huge number of piling ons and couple thousand views. We didn't even do anything - he placed an order and then 20 minutes later cancelled his order. And yes, he was in our time zone, not somewhere else.

I've got dozens and dozens of these stories, scams and less than forthright posts about how "bad" we are.

Are we perfect? No. Do we make mistakes? Yes. Do we make it right? Yes, unless it is Bullshxt and then the truth does a pretty good job of straightening things out all on its own.

I don't get it.

Do you really think we would resort to censoring someone to hide the truth? I don't think so. But it still seems that there are those who immediately want to believe we are the bad guys. I guess that will never change.

My Best Regards,

Ernest Emerson

But it still seems that there are those who immediately want to believe we are the bad guys.

No one said that.

When Bladeforums members' posts disappear with no explanation, it makes them ask why - and its perfectly legitimate do.

Next time, maybe the moderator could make a final post and close the thread rather than disappearing it. Then no one wonders what's going on.

Rock on.

I posted in the previous thread and was also surprised to see it vanished. I suspected that the mod deleted it, which is actually a bit disappointing because I also wanted to see how knife chop's situation turned out.

I personally don't think it's right to drag anyone's name or company through the mud. I also think that one of the purposes of a forum like this is for people to be able to share their experiences with a company's product and service experience. And that includes the good and the bad. The way in which a company's rep interacts with customers on a forum reflects on the company, again for the good or the bad.

Reasonable people understand that mistakes do happen, and that a company which stands behinds their products and treats their customers with respect is all anyone should expect.
