What happened to this thread, did it disappear?

A plain spoken post to set the record straight before closing would be a huge help. And in the event of a troll post a clear debunking of their claim would be the best thing to do.

That way anyone searching on google for say Emerson warranty would find the thread but with an explanation at the end to show the resolution.

And of course the trolls who join up with an agenda to slander any company should get the hammer with no mercy.

There is a lot of that on this forum; that is to say there are a lot of people here that have some imbalance that causes them to hate this manufacturer or that manufacturer and their products.

Any more I just recognize those people for what they are and disregard what they post in the forum.

I do believe this all roots in the "participation trophy" generation of entitled brats, although I have seen more "mature" individuals post here who definitely are a few fries short of a happy meal.

Every company makes a product occasionally that needs some correction; the more product produced, the more chance for errors. Simple as that.

If we as a group could recognize these individuals and just not post in their threads, the problem would go away; it would not be much fun for them if nobody even acknowledged their psychotic rants.

I love my Emerson knives, and all of my other knives for that matter. If I get one that needs some attention, I deal with the company in a polite and professional manner. If that does not go my way, case closed and I move on. Saves me a lot of grey hair and high blood-pressure.

No one said that.

When Bladeforums members' posts disappear with no explanation, it makes them ask why - and its perfectly legitimate do.

Next time, maybe the moderator could make a final post and close the thread rather than disappearing it. Then no one wonders what's going on.

Rock on.
Agree.

A LOT of us have been dragged through the mud a bit on this forum Mr. Emerson, though maybe not quite to that extent as you are a bit more prominent and well known here than most of us. You are always GOING to be a larger "target" than are we.

Many, if not most of us, are aware of the PITA's you must endure every year. Most of us can also tell who's in the right and who's not at the end of the day when things are allowed to follow their course to conclusion. But back to the subject at hand,

it's the PERCEPTION that matters, sir....not necessarily the reality (something you probably learned earlier in life than most of us). IMO, the Rep's initial defensiveness as well as the abrupt ending to things there did take on the appearance of "let's sweep this under the rug while we can; make it just disappear," or, just good ol' basic censorship...and let's face it, that's kind of what happened. If the OP was lying and/or merely trolling, it could have been easily exposed in the end. It may still be.

I love Emerson knives, own several, intend to buy more and am a solid supporter of you, your company and your philosophies and endeavors. After all, it is your products that have given me and others hours of joy. And I try to read everything you post. However, I am not a "fanboy" and when something seems a little "fishy" I, like an number of others, will voice it--hopefully with all due respect.

Speaking for myself, my wish is that we do get the eventual full story. As of right now the questions remain unanswered because the machinations were suddenly quashed by those who control the setting: a guy claims his knife was in four times for the same problem at misc. out-of-pocket expense to him of around $100 with no solution yet in sight. Never was this denied by the Rep even though the question was being asked of him....at least not that I saw as the thread was pulled before I had read all the posts that likely were there at the time.

If the OP wasn't telling the truth, the membership should know about it and deal with the guy and his posts accordingly; if indeed the knife was in four times for the same problem and you guys never caught that, we'd like to know that too. Not to boycott your company or anything, but just to know; we're human too. :)

I hope eventually the true version gets posted here, even if encapsulated, so that we, your customers, can know the story. To ignore it at this point seems untenable to many of us. The bottle was opened so let the truth come out. This is a forum. We were only participating in what forums do in a republic--open, and hopefully frank, discussion; disclosure.

The only reason I started this thread is that I'd never seen such a blatant move to erase something from existence at BladeForums--even from my own reference profile here. I'm still kind of surprised it happened. In a forum setting, I believe truth should out.

Frankly, the thing I'm most pissed off about is that the Rep's "stealthy in the middle of the night" removal action, with zero explanation, caused me an hour or so of hunting around for something I knew had been there and the resulting frustration of suddenly not being able to find it, then questioning my own sanity to the point I had to post others for help. :) Hell, I had better things to do too. Whether I'll ever forgive him for that alone, I don't know. As to the central thread issue though, it would have been adjudicated, resolved and forgotten as quickly as similar things which happen in these pages a lot. Instead it's kind of 'blown up' at present.

I suppose everyone is dug-in now and that unabridged thread will never appear here again. In my opinion the thread could have continued until the truth came through with no real harm to anyone. It had grabbed the attention of a number of contributors here. I think it was shut down prematurely. I know it left a lot of vacuum that remains in the room to this moment.

For myself, I'd only ask that, now that we're all aware of it, the true story be revealed here as soon as it's been determined. I bet others would too. And yes, I have noticed that Knife Chop seems to have suddenly disappeared just like the thread did.

It's your room though.

Stealthy in the middle of the night? Really? I'm a father of going on 2 boys and my bed time is 10p. There's no conspiracy here people. I didn't realize that deleting the thread would make so many waves. My apologies but I'm not hiding anything or sweeping anything under the rug. It's still radio silent on the OP's end and I assure you all that if anything happens you'll be the first to know. EKI has been pretty transparent here on this forum. This sub forum was about to disappear from lack of a moderator but Ernie wanted my help to keep it going. We didn't have to but he felt it was very important and valued all of the brand fans and loyal customer base. I agree. There are a few that don't play well with others and I do my best to get the correct information out there so there's no confusion. If my best isn't good enough then I'm sorry and I'll try harder. Like I've said before, I'm a volunteer and I do this while my 3 year old is running amuck around the house and during the few hours my wife and I have silence in our lives.

And no, there's is no record of any knife from anyone being in the shop for repairs 4 times, not even for 3 times.

For gosh sakes; we are not censoring anyone. My name and my company's name has been dragged through the mud a number of times on this forum. It's nothing new to us.
We simply can't find this guy in our system and he won't reply to our inquiries. Why? I can only guess.

Quite a bit of snipping but this appears to be a sufficient answer, Don't know what kind of scandal you're looking for? Currently the member that brought up the complaint is off pissing on other companies and getting infractions, check out the GB&U thread for survive knives.

'Lax. We still love you.

I love Emerson Knives. It's the only folder brand I have that's still growing. I love this forum and I have the greatest respect and admiration for the serious contributors, the EKI staff members, and ER. We've all expressed our valid and worthwhile opinions and we've all gained from everyone else's point of view.

Can we shake hands, remain friends, and move on?
